Prophet Muhammed(PBUH*) told women to cover their faces and rest of body to hide their beauty from men other than their sons, husbands, fathers, certain other male members of the family because it was written in the Qur'an and ordered by ALLAH.

Covering of face is not obligatory.. it is choice... And do u find any prostitutes covering their faces now??? Infact they hardly cover anything... coz they are inviting people by doing so...
