I would start by showing them some hard scientific evidence about how life began. I would show them that because of the scientific facts that spontaneous life was impossible. Then I would tell them about God and His goodness, His love, His Holiness, His justice, and His mercy.... Jim

You can't. Faith is needed in the first place. Faith is belief in absence of proof. If they had faith, then they wouldn't need the explanation. It's circular logic at best, but this is why many rational people cannot believe in the supernatural. You can never get to the supernatural from facts based on reality. Try to explain what "nothing" looks like, does, or how "nothing" behaves to this person. It will have the same effect and probably be the same explanation.

A mind that is set is difficult to change unless the person is making a move to find the truth. Knowing God is a personal path, just leave the person, you cannot force god down anyones throat.

Someone who doesn't believe in god has probably already had him explained to them - and that's why they don't believe.

It depends why the person doesn't believe.
If they don't believe because they are close-minded, there is nothing to be done.
If all they are needing is some sound reasoning ........
We are treking through the jungle.
Snakes, vines, everywhere.
We come to a clearing and there is a huge fancy, luxurious mansion, with manicured lawns.
If you asked me: 'Who built this here?"
And I replied:
"No one. It just developed on its own."
Would you think me sane?
Creation speaks in favor of God's existence.

You say: "There's an invisible man, who lives in the sky. He has a set of rules, and if you break any of them you will be thrown into a pit of fire, where you will burn and suffer and scream for all eternity. And he loves you. Also, he needs money. He also sent his only son down here to be slowly and brutally killed, in order for you to feel guilty, follow his rules, and give up more of your money."
That should get you a convert.

The same way you explain the color blue to a man who has never seen. You can't, at least not in a way that would do justice.

Actually, you can't really "explain". You can state your beliefs and faith and then demonstrate by the type of person you are and the life you lead!
