I AM BAREFOOT ALL THE TIME,.....NEVER SICK

I was sickly all the time before I started to go barefoot (everywhere, not just at home). I started to sniffle and cough in early fall, I couldn't do without a box of tissues and a packet of cough drops until sometime in May! Now I've been completely barefoot for ten years, I didn't start it because of the health benefits but it's sure been a great improvement. I rarely get a cold, I've called in sick once (for all of two days) in the eight years at my current job, and the only time my nose runs is when I'm crying or eating really hot jalapeno's!

According to a reliable source (see below), barefooting has its own risks. You can accidentally step on poisonous plants and parasites. Hookworms can also enter your body through the small openings in your feet. These can make you sick. However, in my opinion, there is a very little chance of acquiring those. I myself often walk in our house barefooted during my childhood days, and I never got sick because of that. I can say that walking barefoot is 98% safe and 2% dangerous.

Another theory is that walking barefoot can cause calluses when you grow old. It can make your foot hard and a little numb.

No. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Your parents are just a little weird, but they all are.

Sickness comes from germs; not from walking around barefoot. The number one source of getting sick is hand to face.

Keep your floor clean and dry. You will not get sick but if others are walking about with dirty shoes and you are the one at home going barefoot, it is likely you may get foot infection . Most orientals do not wear footwears when they are at home. They leave their shoes at the door. And they are not sick because of this.

If someone in your family has foot fungus then you shouldn't walk around barefoot, but other than that, unless you literally put your foot in your mouth, you don't have to worry.

Be careful about walking around outside barefoot, as there can be dangerous substances in grass and on pavement.

I remember last time I walked on the kitchen tile floor barefoot, I caught cold. So did my mom. It might feel fun, guys, but just try it on a winter day and walk all over a tile floor!

Nope. I hate shoes, I've gone barefoot around my home for 20+ years and it's never made me sick.

No, simply walking around your house barefoot will not make you sick. Think about it - Putting your naked feet to a floor, even if it is cold, does in no way insert germs into your body. However, if you already have something brewing (cold, flu, etc.) walking around in the cold doesn't help it. :)

No, it's an old wives tale, just like going outside with out a coat or with wet hair will make you sick.

Germs make you sick, not a wet head or bare feet. The only way bare feet in your house could make you sick was if you stuck one of your toes in your mouth and licked the germs off.
