I live in the US, and the only other country I've ever seen at all is Canada, and that not much. Not nearly as much as I would like. But then, I've not seen nearly as much of the US as I would like, either.

But I am a member of National Geographic Society, I have a good atlas they recently published, and I am competent to search for things on the Internet. In addition, I have several friends through Yahoo 360 who live around the world, and others of my more local friends have traveled. Indeed, some were born far away.

So I guess I know about as much as a reasonably well-educated but not well-traveled American can know. Unfortunately, I'm afraid my knowledge, limited as it is, is a good bit above most Americans. Most of them know little more than what mass media shows (sorry, but that's only a tiny bit of any country or portion thereof, and very distorted) and some vague stuff they remember from an inadequate public school education. Even a few who have traveled a bit may have views limited to tourist-laden areas.

Hey thanks for choosing my answer as the best, i dont think you're a dummy. =) I live in the US always have, I know practically nothing about other countries other than general facts. The middle east is full of beasts who have been hardened through time and living in the sand. They will never conform to our western ways; we're wasting our time. Media says North Korea is a bunch of nuts trying to get a nuke, as is Iran. I know Asia is taking all of America's manufacturing jobs. Mexico is a trash pit and its citizens are rushing to America to get out of the stench. Canadians are chillers, Europeans have big heads but they do have our back. And lastly, a majority of the world hates George W Bush and that extends into every country.
