I had been seeing this guy (casually) for over a year, until he moved back to his hometown for a job. He said he still wanted to keep in touch though. So I had, but hadn't heard from in a month, so I didn't contact him for a month. Well lastnight he called me, and said that he was thinking about me because this song reminded him of me (that we used to listen to). So...we got to talking, and then he said, yah I met this girl...but to me it seemed as though it's just casual, I didn't tell him about any guy, & I changed the subject. Then, since I invited him on vacation w/me & my parents before he left, he asked if I was still going. So..I'm thinking he still has feelings for me? Or is he trying to keep me in his life..just in case? I told him I missed him and wished that we could talk more, and he said, well it is what it is..But he obviously still has feelings for me or he wouldn't still be trying to call me or wanting to go on vacation w/my parents. Why did he tell me about the girl?

"This girl" that he mentioned must not be giving him enough attention! So he had to call you to make himself feel better knowing that you probably still miss him. He might not be thinking (some men are very inconsiderate) when he told you about the girl or he wanted you to think that he still think of you even there is this girl. It doesn't hurt to have a back-up, does it? If you still like him and don't mind to be a back-up, then stay where you are. Otherwise, let him know casually that you are with another guy next time you talk to him. Tell him the vacation got canceled because he would only confuse you more if he is there.

He wants to keep you close because of the vacation that is coming up. He doesn't want to loose out on that and he told you about the girl, so that you know he is not interested in you. By telling you, "it is what is" its obvious that he wants nothing serious and that you are just his back up. Sorry

You are living a fantasy romance. Of course, he told you about the girl 'cause he's a player. He's got at least 2 women okay with his playing, so why should he be serious about any of them.
You're okay, she's okay, and he's okay. So if you want to continue being friends with benefits knowing what you know, so be it. But don't expect anything to change, I mean, he ain't in love with you.
