never heard of more SIDS deaths BUT I Know its certainly harder on your body AND harder on your first born becuase 18 months - 30 months is when a kid needs you MOST and if you are busy with the younger kid the older one will not be getting what they need.. it is for this reason that experts reccommend waiting until your first child is 2years before you even consider having another...
the older kid will hear "not now.. the baby needs me" or "be quiet you will wake the baby" so they will think you love the baby more than them...

I don't think the SIDS thing is true. The major risk to the new one is that you have a higher chance of a preterm baby. This includes low birth weight and all the risks related to that. Also, your own body will be going through a lot more as it has not fully recovered from the first one. And you'll be REALLY tired, more tired than you were with number one.

I've never heard of the sids thing. My daughters are exactly 51 weeks apart; not even a year. If my youngest would have been born one week later they would've shared a birthday. There's some risks but not many. The biggest risks are for you; not the baby. Make sure you take your vitamins. Your doctor may also have you take calcium pills to ensure you get your proper amout. I have a calcium deficiency due to having my daughters so close together. Good luck.

Never heard the SIDS correlation. My doctor recommended ideally waiting 2 years before getting pregnant again. But this was mostly to allow my body time to recover from the first pregnancy. Obviously many women have healthy babies with minimal time between them and both mother and kids turn out just fine. You should be fine, just take care of yourself. Make sure you are taking your prenatal vitamins and getting enough rest (I know it's hard with a little one, but sneak in a nap whenever you can).

My brother and I are 11 months apart. And my sons are a year - 3 days.... and we are all... I wanted to have my kids close in age... I think that as long as you can afford it and have the love and patience for it you will be an excellent mom. The second pregnancy was harder though, as he was late by 10 days and I was sore, but I wouldnt trade it for the world.... Good luck , Congrats, and happy holidays!

sorry ot hear that. but congratulations on the 3 month old. its harder for all because you just had one , the one you have will not get needed attention because you may be tired. the sids thing isnt true but without being rude -------why didnt you use protection after you had the little one if oyu didnt want another so fast?

I don't know about sids, i think that could happen whether it's back to back or not. I have a friend who had one bady and 9mths later was having another one (seriously). now she has 5 kids and she seems to be in good health. just hope you know what youre in for and have the money and the patience for them.

God no. Thats rediculous. People have Irish twins all the time. My cousins are the same age for two months out of the year.

The worst it does is deplete your body of a lot of nutrients, and makes it so you can breast feed the first baby.

Your doctor will monitor you closely. You'll all be fine.

I haven't heard of any ill effects... and I wouldn't worry about it.... My friend has three kids and each time she got prego, it was when the previous one was around 6 weeks old... Not planned, but not prevented.. It is a little harder to care for each one, but they are the best of friends, and she and her hubby wouldn't have it any other way.
