There is a big difference between positively believing that a thing does not exist, and simply lacking belief in it's existence. In many cases, atheists will say "That God does not exist", not because they choose to do so, but because, from the description of the God, it cannot exist due to contradictory attributes. In the same way that a square circle cannot (and therefore does not) exist, a God defined as (for example) all-knowing, yet cannot see into the future, cannot and does not exist because the definition is self-contradictory. If you describe your God with self-contradicting attributes which make it logically impossible, then I may safely say that such a thing does not exist as described. This is not faith - this is reason.

What self-contradictory terms are being used to describe God? Who said that He can't see into the future? I agree with your premise but don't understand what it has to do with the God of the Bible.

This is the distinction between stong and weak atheism. Either you simply lack belief or you support a non-belief.

I didn't know that God was all-knowing, but could not see into the future. I think you are confused.

You're right that God is illogical, but I don't follow your analysis.

God does not have self-contradicting attributes.....therefore, He does exist. Reason enough!

Faith is belief in the UNSEEN. Blessed are they who have not seen and yet believe. Reason is assuming without having further evidence yet made available, it is not "proof" of anything, it is mere theory. Christ was born, Christ lived and taught, Christ was betrayed, was crucified,Christ died to redeem us from all our sins and in place of us. He did this once and for all. He was seen after his Resurrection from the dead, He ascended into heaven, all witnessed by 500 or more persons at any one time, these truths preserved for our generations in the Holy Bible. No theory, truth.

Yes, but what are God's contradictory attributes as you so quaintly put it? He is all-knowing and he can see the future. He is benevolent and he gave his son to die at the hands of humans. He is fair in his judgments and he sends those who reject him to join Satan in their wretchedness. He is merciful and those who truly accept him get eternal life in his presence. What is so contradictory?

All the gods were created out of ignorance. The more we learn the less the need for gods. Like it or not, we are the highest power.
