You will ride all day with a couple of stops in between for meals. At the trailride from Laredo to San Antonio they make stops for the night at several dance halls and have dinner and a dance. Then after the dance the party continues till all hours of the morning usually around a campfire. I usually end my evening with the company of a nice young lady. Throwing stick.

Depends on the ride.
Some here you show up and register and then ride a certain course and there are stops along the way where you rest and get to draw cards. At the end of the ride the best poker hand wins prizes. These are usually large rides with lots of people and they are fun. There is a dinner at the end.
Some are several days. You saddle up and ride in the moring stop and have lunch and ride until dinner. They have a dinner and sometimes a dance and then breakfast the next day and you ride some more.
Price depends on where you are camping and how much food they are provinding you with.
They can be really fun to go on and a great way to meet other horse people.

Arena events or cross country??
Arena is a set up trail course(obstacle course)indoor/outdoor
number of obstacles depends on the size of the course.
Usually one water trial, one to three jumps (small)
backing, side pass, gates, turning in a circle,or crossing a bridge.
Cross country event can have the same type of obstacles,
your just outside riding across country.
If your talking about a trail ride for fun....You just ride, usually with several others, friends or not.
Stop for lunch and to rest the horses. Not usually more than six hours. Can be a weekender, where you camp out.
It cost to enter an arena event, a cross country or trail course.
Some trail rides cost, some you only pay for what you need.
Your own food and food for your animals...there are places you can rent horses for different riding events. Enjoy
