They say you shouldn't shave for a few weeks after getting a tattoo but once it heals I can go back to regular shaving, that won't effect the tattoo will it?

I'm not worried about hidding the tattoo, if I get one then I am not ashamed to show it off. I just haven't figured exactly where I want it...

Ok just a little info on the tattooing process should answer this. The tattoo is NOT on your skin, but rather it is beneath the skin layer and in the dermus, not the epidermis which is the outer skin, the average tattoo is between 1.5mm and 3mm deep depending on the area of the body, so shave away once its healed. A cut from shaving will not affect the tattoo either as these usually involve thin layers of skin being shaved off rather than deep cutting which will slice your tattoo in half.

Your tattoo will be fine! Dont freak out when you see color coming off of your leg in the shower... Thats just scab/skin coming off! Use Dial or an antibacterial soap and rub gently on the tattoo after its soaked awhile to slough off the dead skin! Curel is a great lotion to use in the healing process! Skip the Tattoo Goo you pay more and its junk... Previous experience! Definatley dont shave till its healed and once it is you will be fine! Avoid itching it at all costs and best of luck! Usually within two weeks give or take a few days you'll be able to shave again but everyone is different! youll know when your skin is ready!

It takes a couple of weeks to heal and by the end of the healing time you will have a "fuzzy" tattoo. It drove me nuts but don't shave it until it is completely healed. After that go ahead and shave the area, it will not damage the tattoo

Regular shaving after a couple weeks will NOT affect the tattoo at all. Make sure you keep it moisturized though ALOT. I have 3 tatoos and all mine are fine after 10 years so I am sure if you follow their directions once you get it done, you will be fine. And remember, DO NOT itch it AT ALL during the healing process. Otherwise you will run the chance of messing it all up.

Once it is healed you can shave the area. I have one on my leg as well and shaving it doesn't cause any problem, just be careful not to cut yourself. Scaring could damage the appearance of the tattoo.

no, they just want to make sure that the tattoo is healed and the scab on it is completely gone.....shaving before that could possibly cut off some of the skin that is still trying to heal....causing the color in the tattoo to be uneven

Once the tatoo heals then it is ok to shave again without effecting the ink. Tats on the thigh are real cool!

nope, just wait until it is completely healed....no pealing or redness. Put lotion on it at least twice a day to keep it from drying out, that will speed up the process.

Hair is going to grow slower there at first so just shave up as close as you can to it.

you can shave your legs, just not on top of the tattoo until it is completely healed. make sure you keep tons of lotion on it to keep it pretty. and post a picture so we can see! good luck!
