...AND also beleive that they are right no mater who tells them other wise and you can have £1,000,000. BUT, even if you do follow their word to the letter yet don't believe this person is right, you will be locked away in a cupboard for the rest of your life with nothing. Just because of a belief.

This person would be arrested and imprisoned for abuse. They would be condemned by sosiety and be a hated figure.

Yet it's ok for God to do this?

Makes no sense to me.

Instead of the "god bless you" type comments why not offer an exlanation? You never know you may convince me with a good enough argument

Still don't see the logic of man hating humans for doing what they love god for?

Iwantu2: Thank you for your answer. I can understand that concept, but parents do not have absolute rights and wrongs, and also understand this, they also don't punish for eternity, they love you dispite your wrongs and never tell you to beleive in them only or else.

It;s not about guide lines and compliance, it's the whole "you can still comply but if you don't BELIEVE I will punish you anyway!"

THat's what gets me. And for the record I am agnostic/atheist

Isn't that sort of what happens in some lifestyle BDSM relationships?

... I think if someone wants to believe and give the power to "god" to do that sort of thing- and it is by consent and free will (choice)... then good for them (I hope such masochism makes them truely happy).

Personally, it's not my cup of tea, nor within my concept of god.

First of all it is not about money with GOD. Even though he is the ONE who instituted it.

Do you believe the Old Testament? Yes! No!

Do you believe in the Laws of Moses? Yes! No!

Have you read where it is printed that ... The penalty for sin (= disobedience) is death. Declared by GOD. That declaration condemned all of mankind to death for their disobedience unto GOD. The law was to show them their disobedience (= death).

Have you read where it is printed that .... as long as they offered a sacrifice for their sin (= disobedience), it would bring them into a right standing (= obedience) with GOD and His Righteousness. This is the sacrificial idea of Jesus. In the Old Testament, it was done everyday as payment for their sin (= disobedience).

Do you believe in the New Testament? Yes! No!

This is the sacrificial idea of Jesus. Except this time ..... it was "ONE sacrifice for all of mankind." If you believe that he is a son of GOD and if you believe that no sin (= disobedience) was found in Him and if you believe that you also must die to yourself (your ambitions, give up everything) so that Christ may live within you and through you, you will live in the end. This is the reward.

But many see it as (The Cost that is to high to follow). So it is far easier to deny (= anti) than to follow (= act).

Thought process just for you and really think about it.

Your are a King, Dictator, President. As things go you have a Court of subjects / people under you. As things go you institute or give the order of the LAW for the Land. You make declarations as how these will be in compliance and you make declarations for non-compliance. Most of your subjects / people will comply.

What will you do with those who do not comply? Act on the declarations made for non-compliance, that you declared over the Land as LAW.

Do you agree with this statement?

Some would totally agree with you. Others would absolutely disagree with you.

Ok! So you refuse to believe. But you comply. To comply with something or someone's idea. To be able to comply, you have to have a belief some what or you would never comply. It is not like someone or something is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to comply. You complied own your free will because in some sort of way you have a belief to comply.

The problem with your posting and other similar postings is that you are trying to compare God with mere humans and human situations. The bible does say that God made us in His image, but it does not say that He made us exactly like Him. That is what got Adam and Eve in trouble, they thought if they ate from the tree, they would be exactly like God. I cannot tell you more than what I know and understand. And the way I think of it is this: God made us to love Him. But, what is the use of love, if you have to force someone to love you? God did not want to force us to love Him, so He gave us free will. He gave us the bible which clearly spells out for us what God wants. He gave us Jesus Christ because He knew that the OT demands would be too impossible for us to keep. And He knew what the state of the world would be like. He gave us free will for us to make our own choices. The threat of eternal damnation really doesn't work does it? Look at how many people deny God everyday. They are using their free will. I accepted Christ, not because i was scared of hell, but because I saw the Ultimate Sacrifice that was made for me, through the death of Jesus Christ. So people can use human logic and talk about 'the threat of hell' , but really in 2006 almost 7 does the threat of hell even work?

Thats twist this around. When you was young and thats assuming your older, your mom and dad set guide lines for you. If you did not obey them your either got a spankin or scolded. Only because they loved you did they set those guide lines. They wanted to protect you from the cruel world. I am sure for the most part you followed those guide lines. Now why didnt you rebel and disobey them all the time? It was because you loved them and respected them. Its the same for God and his children. He gives us guide lines to follow and thats in the bible and we try our best to follow them because we love him and respect him.

I agree with you. I don't like being told what to believe in. My boyfriend and I are SPIRITUAL...not religious as it makes no sense to conform to something you can't justify.
