No you don't have to. I think this whole gift thing is crazy with people. I feel a gift is something that you give without getting something back. Also when you put obligation on getting someone else a gift then it really looses it's meaning.

Absolutely not sweetie! Don't feel obligated in any way shape or form!!!It's Christmas!!!He got you and your son a gift, like millions of other people do this time of year-remember Christmas is for giving!!! Just accept the gift with grace and gratitude and I'm sure that is all that he expects! Happy Holidays!

No, you are not obligated to buy him a gift but just so there aren't any misunderstandings about the receiving of any gifts I think that you should get something for him in return. Is it just a guy that you're not interested in or hoping to build a relationship? if your not interested get a gift like a scarf or a pair of gloves. But if you're looking for relationship get something meaningful like a watch or cologne.

You are not obligated to but I'd get him something small as a token of appreciation. I had the same thing happen to me recently and I got the guy a small toy truck that looks like his real one. It was only $2 at Wal Mart.

I think given the fact that you know in advance he is giving you a present, then common courtesy would dictate that you reciprocate PROVIDED you are financially able to do so.
If he is a stalker, someone you despise, or for some other reason you don't consider him worthy, then I think you are wise NOT to give him a gift.
Good Luck

There's a diffrence between men and women, i'd say that a woman does not have to get a present for a man but a man for a woman...
so, i'd say it's quite good to get him a li'l "complimentary gift".

No .
If you want to get him some thing, go ahead. If not, thats ok too.
But there is nothing that says you must return the favor.

well a little something wouldn't hurt. Nothing major just a little something like a basket of cookies. Something to say thanks! And to make it from the both of you you could say that your son baked the cookies and you made the basket (even if you didn't!!)
