It won't be soon enough. Keep in mind, though, that there is a huge difference between religion and spirituality. The world will always need spirituality, but religion should be obsolete already. Some free thinking people call their beliefs religion, and I don't want to offend them. But, I am primarily talking about those religions that believe their way is the only right way, and every one else will have to suffer eternal damnation if they don't agree.

Religion gives God a bad name!

Oh by the way, I have to commend the one who calls herself " the daily m..." That was awesome. I love what you said, and I agree with you completely. I wish more people would think that way, then we might not have to wait so long to make this world a good place to live. You are among the enlightened ones.....you should be proud and speak out more!

However long it takes, is one second, one minute, one hour, one day, one month, one year and one lifetime too long. Religion was effective when people are not educated. People of the world are becoming more and more educated, and the internet is connecting the entire planet. It will happen, people will realize there is no use for religion or faith in a man made idea of a almighty creator.

Religion will never be obsolete. Faith gives people something to hope for beyond this life. Hope is a GREAT motivator.

In order the have religion become obsolete, then God would have to remove the need for hope. The only way to do that is the second coming of Jesus Christ and remove any and all forms of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual oppression.

And that my friend, would be heaven!

That is hard to say. Christianity supplanted other faiths nearly completely after about 800 years or so in the areas of orgin but completely? Even today there are still some pagans out there. to your second question, when a new religion comes along that answers more of our vision of faith then the present.

i think in a way it is already happening. You look how our country is trying to get rid of, for example christianity. You say the word Jesus, God, Cross, nativity or Merry Christmas, and some communist lovin, human waste land cries about how it offended them. What ever happened to "just ignore it." people of this generation have grown up to be such *******. Religion is slowly being phased out in this country because of God-less liberals. Sooner or later it is going to be a violation of the law to have anything with religion. Im ashamed of americans. But to answer your question, what event would have to take place before this happens??

It happened on the 7th of NOV 2006 when God haters took office. and it will be carried out in 2008 when a God hater slimes her way into the white house

When the world ends, I suppose there will no longer be a need for religion. Right now, over a billion people actively participate in the top ten religions.

It will probably never happen, in spite of the fact we will never mature as a species until we abandon our mythologies. As long as there are men who feel the need to control thought, control the actions of other men, and acquire power, we will always have religions. Someone once said when fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.

Religion will become obselete when society smartens up, and starts taking care of their poor, homeless and hungry. When we protect our environment, and when third world countries no longer exist. When everyone on Earth lives in better balance, and we eliminate poverty, that is when people will not need religion anymore.

Religion can become obsolete but God never will.

Merry Christmas.

I think that time is far in the future, but it will happen. Centuries from now, people will look back upon the religions practiced by the majority of humans today with the same mix of amusement and curiosity with which we now glance back upon the superstitions of ancient Greece and Egypt.
