Mine usually wins among my friends as the worst proposal in history.
My hubby and I had been car shopping for me, and he was driving me home. As we drove over some railroad tracks, without even stopping the car, he glanced over at me and said "So, when are we going to go get your ring?" I sat there for a couple of minutes trying to figure out what he had just said, since we hadn't been talking anything about rings, or even marriage. So I asked him "Did you just ask me to marry you?" He glanced over at me again (he's STILL DRIVING THE CAR) and asked "Do you think so?"
We've been married for almost 19 years. But whenever he asks me if I'd marry him again, I point out that he never really ASKED the first time....LOL He then points out that I showed up at the wedding.......

I was 17 & had been with my now ex boyfriend for 2 years, it was New Years Eve & we were both really drunk, when he suggested we get married. In my drunken state I said yes then when I woke in the morning I came to my senses & told him no, hehe. We did stay together another 2 years though!
I'm now with the guy I can really see myself settling down with, we have only been together a year so its not something thats about to happen in the near future but when he does ask me I think it will be very romantic coz thats the kind of guy he is, awww hes a sweetie! x x x

My husband proposed to me on a famous landmark in my City where i live. This landmark is a suspension bridge (like the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco, only slightly smaller). He did on my 25th Birthday & it was a total surprise. He took me to the bridge on a beautiful summers day, got down on bended knee infront of loads of spectators & proposed. He presented me with the most beautiful Diamond Trilogy ring & i accepted straight away. I was in dreamland all week.

I was like "Okay".....well my soon to be is hitting the old man behind us chair and all moving around. As I am smiling at the camera i am saying "Nick lets go the lady doesn't have all day!!" well all the suddle he gets on one knee and say "Jennifer, baby....will you do me the honor of becomeing my wife ? I was shoked it took me 5 minutes to spit the yes out. Let just say i was a mess..

Oh the waitress was supose to get it on video...she messed up and didn't...didn't even get a picture....she said she had the same camera when he handed it to her, so he though it was a lock, he was wrong lol

My husband just proposed to me in my living room - after I'd already been out with him to pick the ring!!
I've always wanted a surprise proposal - you know, the guy finds out my ring size, picks a gorgeous ring, or an antique family one, takes me out to dinner, then while walking along the river in the moonlight afterwards - gets down on one knee, tells me how much he loves me, and asked me if I'd give him the great honour of spending my life with him :) Ahhh, one can hope - maybe next time that will happen!!

On my birthday, my now husband gave me a card and a heart necklace. We had just bought a house and I wanted to go furniture shopping so we went out and bought a sofa, loveseat, and kitchen table. Afterward, he took me to a very nice waterfront restaurant for dinner where we sat outside. When the sun started to set, he got the check and we went down to the water. We walked along the water's edge until we came to a long dock. We walked all the way to the end... he turned me to face him and got down on one knee. I thought I was going to fall off the dock! He proposed, I screamed yes, these people came up on their boat and congratulated us. It was amazing!! Best birthday ever!

i was with someone once who was a bit of a loser...at the time i thought he was ok....but looking back...hmmmm, different story now...he called in one night, sat down, then said...."well, what do ya think, lets do it" so i got my coat on thinking we were going to the pub, so he stood up and said, "no, were getting married....right" and i'm like..."yeah right, says who"....he pulled out this ring from his jeans which was too big, then told me he'd pay me the money back because he lent it from my money jar that i keep stashed for rainy days, never did see the money again or him for that matter, we were only together for about 2 months... i had to dump him, it was a mistake from the start

You ask like it's something that happens a lot. My ex bought me a silver bracelet (well I had to pay half) and said, "This can either be a birthday present or an engagement bracelet" and yes had to buy the wedding rings and pay for the honeymoon, house, furniture etc...
