If there are no children or joint property purchased since the marriage - most states also allow annulments - which is much simpler then a divorce and simply makes the marriage void, as if it had never happened. Each state has a different time frame in which this is allowed - though some are up to a year so it's worth looking into.

Yes. Don't confuse divorce with annulment. In Maryland, you can only get an annulment under very specific conditions (one being that either party is unable to physically have sexual intercourse).

Yes. Try to get an annulment first. Say you never consummated the marriage (had sex after getting married). Go back to the priest who married you. You have to go in together.
