The hatred is because the reasons we are being led to believe we went to war are not true -- such as weapons of mass destruction. Investigations have found intelligence leading up to the war flimsy, the war was declared ILLEGAL by the United Nations as a violation of international law and an ILLEGAL WAR OF AGGRESSION against the United Nations charter, the will of the Security Council, and the voice of most of the world. The "coalition of the willing" is indeed, as a senator noted, the "coalition of the coerced and the bribed" containing small island nations with no military. The war was pushed on the American people in a shameful fashion and Iraq's chance at democratization unlikely given internal strife. Unfortunately, as Montesquieu noted, the same government does not work everywhere. In america, a week in prison is quite a punishment for some, but a week in American prison to an Iraqi is laughable.
Thus, the same standards cannot be employed, and when they are, disaster results. It is an unfortunate truth that such a divided nation requires a strong ruler, and a political solution to make an Islamic nation conform to Western standards is untenable.

It's been over twenty years since I last wore a uniform, and I'm just a country hick, but the more I look at sites like this, the more I'm amazed at how little the public seem to know about the military and about war, peacekeeping operations, and counter-insurgency operations. It's routine to see people post notes that make it clear that they have no idea of the history of the Vietnam war, and no clue that the USMC in particular has a long history of successful counterinsurgency operations. I wore a blue suit, but even I know how Chesty started in the business. The sad part is that they think they know a lot more than they do, so it's easy for them to get the wrong idea. They also seem never to have heard of Mao's little red book, so they don't know when to keep their mouths shut.

It's partisan cr*p...that is all. I don't give a damn about the opinions of either side, I do however care about the future of my nation and other western nations and the very existence of this very existence is threatened from within the nation as well as without. Many refuse to look to the future of western civilisation if we fail. They are letting their trendy hatred blind them to the very probable result if we fail.
At this juncture, there is no alternative other than to succeed by whatever means necessary. Western ambition has never been based in the philosophy "the ends justify the means" but radical Islam is based on that in total. We have to adapt or suffer for our political correctness. I stand behind our troops as well as their mission. To do otherwise in my opinion is nothing more than splitting hairs to make one feel better about themselves.
I want this fight won decisively. We are NOT allowing our troops to do their jobs. We take the authority away from those we entrust to safeguard us at home, it seems logical that we do the same to our military. IT IS WRONG! If we wage war, then by any means, crush the enemy decisively till they have no desire to get to their feet and carry the fight further.
I back you and your fellow soldiers 110% and if it were possible to join you at my age, I would with pride. For the future survival of our homeland.

If you look at the state of Iraq now and the way it was before. I think we can all agrea they where better off without George Bush getting in there.
The only reason George Bush invaded Iraq was beacouse he wanted the oil, and that is the only reason.
His family are making millions of dollars from the war. And its not just the oil. They are making money supplieng weapons, and fising up the ships and every thing.
They dont care how many soldiers are dead, just as long as they get some money out of it.
I am 100% behind the soldiers, but i am not behind the war. It is not realy a war at all. I think calling it a War is way off base.
And then you have Bush saying that they are loosing over there. Man how dumb can you get. Tell every one that you losing over there and admiting it was a big mistake.

See, the way I see, the democrats want the troops out of Iraq, and they just so happened to win the election. If they pull out the troops, not only will the Middle Eastern countries fall, so will we. We will be at a higher risk of getting more terrorist attacks, only because we pulled out and other countries will think we are "sissies". I think that the war is a safe thing because it protects us from future terrorist attacks. Other countries won't want to pick on the US of A to come and whip them into shape!!
Plainly put, people that aren't fighting, don't realize how much the troops are saving our asses right now. Because you are a verteran, I take my hat off to you. THANKS!!!

Because they hate Pres. Bush and everything he stands for, and seek to blame him for the Iraq War, even though Congress gave the okay to go to Iraq in the first place.
Don't forget, Bush also has a secret weather-making machine that created Hurricane Katrina, and he used it to wipe out New Orleans, plus he orchestrated the 9/11 attacks.

Politics. The issue is never the issue, it's who's in charge. The dems are singing a different song not that they have some responsibility in congress. The protests you hear are the extremists kool aide drinkers.

You are absolutely right. I would till call it an invasion instead of a war, though. But we have done a lot of destruction there. Halliburton should try to stand up o what they are being paid for. Those poor Innocent souls that have no water, electricity, much less, some have lost complete home. Its time we became construction oriented. Pulling out completely and leaving those people to suffer now is inhumane.
BTW Thanks for your time served.

Because many people felt war wasn't right. The reason that the people of Iraq are so miserable is that we are there, fighting a battle that never should of started.
