I ordered a camera online and it says brand new on website.

this was cannon sd600..

i called to confirm my order and he says that the default battery life is only 15 mins and he can upgrade with additional $80 and he will give off $20.

i said no because my total limit is $275 and then he says - ok .. then he will do the adjustment to make it $275 and give discount of another $30 on batter...

i did not feel very comforable about that..what do u guys think

First of all...the battery life on the SD600 is more dependent on the number of shots taken, whether there's alot of motion on the LCD screen, and whether flash is being used...not so much the number of minutes that it's turned on. In fact, it can be turned on for much longer than 15 minutes without the battery running out. The SD600 battery is capable of taking 240 shots before running out (tested against CIPA standard methods). It is capable of taking 700 shots with the LCD turned off. If you take all 240 (or 700) shots one after another, waving the camera around madly, zooming in and out, with the flash going off every other secon...then maybe it might run out in 15 minutes. But the salesperson was trying to mislead you by phrasing it that way.

Secondly, I purchased my SD700 for $290, and I know the SD600 is available currently (as of 12/22/06) for around $225 from Internet sales channels. You are not getting any significant deal on that offer. It's not horrible...but it's not exactly like he was doing you any favors. A second battery is advisable though. So whether you get it from someone like him who's trying to make himself look good, or someone else, you'll probably be spending something close to $275 all in all. But that kind of deal can be had elsewhere, no problem.

Check around on the web and at some local camera shops. Check and see if this is really a good deal or not. They might be just trying to squeeze more money out of you. Do some price comparison on your own over the web or phone and then you can make your own informed decision if it is a good deal or not. Good Luck!

Are they out of New York? Common Scam, usually the whole camera is out of stock but they can "upgrade" you. They usually won't even honor their price until they put on additional overpriced items! Don't fall for the "Strong Sell" tactics. Either make them honor what they stated or file a complaint with their local Better Business Bureau office and buy elsewhere. You DID check them out at www.bbb.org right?

how about return it. if they can't keep what they say on the web site, then you should not trust them with your money pr your credit card either.
