I want to buy a computer upgrade from America but I live in the Uk and no amazon and Ebay dont have what I want.

If the item is worth under £28 you do not have to pay duty if over you do it is generally 5% of items worth, then 17.5% vat on worth and duty, if you contact company and ask them who they are using to ship item they can tell you but beware if they use ups they charge admin fee's as well so do parcel force, I am presuming that is is a small item if this is so you may get away with it,but be prepared they will expect payment upon delivery if ups if parcel force they want payment prior to delivery.

Hmmmm, depends on value, depends on if the customs actually check it. if it's under £70 you might not have to pay duties but then you might. You will probably have to VAT 17.5% Try calling HM customs and exercise 'tarriffs' number, they will tell you the % of duties you have to pay on a particular item. when I import from china I work on a maximum 30% then sometimes I have bit left over!!
