Its in the past, let it go. You serve no good to anybody's relationship . You are just trying to get people's opinions on your side to give yourself another notch in your superiority complex. Will it really change things. Will it help the situation. Instead you should be asking why she didn't have such a strong maternal bond to the child. If it concerned you so, then why didn't you stay home so that she could be with the baby and foster a stronger relationship. Stop looking for votes on your side and start looking for solutions to help what you see as a problem.

Well lets see. She spent nine months making a baby with 2 other kids around and just gave birth a week ago. Do you really think she wants to travel ? Dont you think she might be just a bit tired having brought a human into the world ? So a week later you want her to schlep with you, 2 kids and a newborn to another state for a month to your parents house where there will be construction going on ?? Wow, your right shes just the most horrible person on the face of the earth. The question here should be what kind of man would expect his wife to do this one week after she gave birth ??

Wow. I'm not sure what to think. I know that when my children were born, there was nothing that could keep me from them. Grandmas couldn't even take them for a few hours...I can't imagine someone taking my baby to another state. But then again, I don't know this person or the circumstances surrounding the situation. Maybe she doesn't have those motherly instincts, or maybe she completely trusts you...it could be one of many things. My first reaction was to say that she was nuts, but like I said earlier, I don't know her or the situation. It wouldn't be fair for me to judge.

She is crazy!! I would go. I would not let anybody take my week old baby out of town and certainly not out of the state. The dad could maybe take them alone when they are teens, but not while their babies.

It depends on your relationship with the father...happily married, divorced? A one week old child needs to be with their mother, and if its a divorce situation, definately don't allow it....that's too scarey. We hear all the time about parental abductions......be smart and careful dear.

I don't really think it matters. It is your son, step or not. If she didn't want to go she had her reasons.

theres no way that i would ever do that... and im pretty sure that no girls that i know would do that either... what could be so important that you have to stay? to me those are the type of mothers that would just abandon their kids... theres something missing there that most women have...

Maybe she was overwhelmed or going through post partum depression.... or maybe she is just not very maternal. That's not to say she doesn't love her kids, she just may not have that maternal instinct.
