God has been created in the image of likeness of men by men who use the concept to control other men. Religion functions in the world as a social/political control institution. There certainly must be a God but loving God has absolutely nothing to do with what men have created. If you notice when someone who feels they are a "true belieiver" you can see that they have created God in their own image and take comfort that they are getting over on God by following the silly rules and scriptures that were written by self serving men. They cannot feel as though they love God unless the point out that they are doing it better than others. It also seems important to believe that God is micro managing everyone's life and watching all of the time (in the Santa Claus model of watching). Religion is a creation of men and appeals to people's doubt and fear. Religion is so bizarre and people who follow different churches are mindless, not God loving.
