My call to reality came from the Gospel of Matthew, “What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” (16:26).
I had accepted Christ as my Savior when I was 17 years of age. I knew the truth for years but failed to apply it to my life. When I was grasping for answers in college, I came to a critical point. I felt God call me into the ministry and knew in my heart that I should transfer to a Christian university that had recruited me. But instead of yielding to my identity as a “new creation” I sought out the wisdom of the world; I embraced its definition of success; and I proceeded to run from God for over 15 years.
Imagine what God could do with my athletic drive and desire to win. The Apostle Paul wrote with an understanding of competition and victory, “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize” (1 Corinthians 9:24).
The key here is the prize one seeks to obtain. While I was chasing after earthly reward and recognition, neither of which will endure, Paul encourages the believer to pursue an everlasting outcome for his labor by answering God’s call, “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14).
Imagine what God could do with my academic prowess and drive for education. Paul counseled his student Timothy to prepare himself for the work of the Lord, “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).
Approved means “accepted and pleasing” to God. He is pleased when we devote ourselves to the “word of truth”; to understanding it fully; and to apply it correctly. When I directed my life toward the world and away from God, I resisted the course of learning He had prescribed and embraced the counsel of man. God tells us in Proverbs 1:5, “Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.”
Imagine what God could do with my work ethic, my energy, and my willingness to toil for long hours. Until my rededication to Christ, all of my hard work had been in service of the self and in pursuit of the world’s approval. If only I had acted with the same zeal for God’s favor.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Colossians 3:23-24). When I realized that my citizenship, my inheritance, and my rewards lie in Heaven, my sense of responsibility shifted from the immediate to the eternal. Building “treasure in Heaven” comes only through the submission of the self, to the call of the Father. It is a call that is answered out of love and surrender to the work He has defined for each of us.
“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again” (2 Corinthians 5:14-15). Imagine what God could do with a submitted sinner like me...i
Creating Self-Motivated Children
Don’t reward with materialistic prizes or withholding punishment. These rewards will cause children to be motivated to do more for those prizes instead of being motivated to do better. Your child should be intrinsically motivated to want to do better; in other words, a self-motivated child who enjoys the feeling of accomplishment.
Let your child make his/her own choices. When he/she has a buy into it he/she is more likely to be excited about it and increase his/her effort. For example, ask your child what he/she would like to study in the Bible.
Expect your child to do well. Set high expectations for him/her but be warm and loving about them.
Encourage your child. Use a lot of positive feedback.
Foster all of your children working together with each other.
Use “teachable moments” to help guide what you teach your child and what your child needs to learn.
Give your child opportunities to learn and grow.
Let your child make mistakes and then teach him/her how to fix his/her mistakes. Let your child learn from his/her failures.
Teach your child the relationship between effort and success.
Support your child.

Wow, what a Question..Well, I am a religious & spiritual person and I can answer this.
The Rewards in Heaven can not even come close to-- or be compared to the material things of this life. To prove what God is capable of--just take a look at the stars at night, or the sunset. That beauty can not be compared to the things you have described. And the Beauty that you do see on the lake, was created by God and belongs to Him.
You seem to think that a Material Life will last forever. No matter what you have--believe that even the best material things will not last forever. Death, illness, old age--no one is immune to those things..Even if your material wealth lasts the whole time you are alive, its just a matter of time until something happens to you--that no money will be able to "buy". ..Perhaps there is something you desire right now--that you would trade all the things you own for, but can't. That shows you just how "valuable" money really is in the end.
Perhaps you think that you are wealthy, and living "without God's help", while you see that many Believers are experiencing hardship, poverty, and suffering--So therefore "your way" is better than "their way"..Well, no one will doubt that the wealthiest people are the least religious, while the most religious live modest lives. But that just shows you what God thinks about money :)
Our lives here are a Test. What I have found is that even in my poverty, illness, and hardest moments--my Faith has always made a "way out of no way". These "tests" have built So Much Character within us Believers. I'm amazed at how much Wisdom, Strength, Happiness, Love and Compassion I have in my Heart--versus wealthy and very sucessful friends of mine who never struggled like me.
Also know that God does not require a life of Poverty. He owns everything. There are many wealthy and sucessful Women who are following God and have True Fulfillment--like Oprah Winfrey. She has True Sucess. (He rewards us according to our Faith and Work.)
God wants you to be Happy and Sucesfull--so all that you have is from His Will. But if you live a life hurting others and not doing good works that could help other people---know that One thing is For Certain: We will all face Death. No matter where you are, Death will find you one day. Know that your choices will determine if your "Good Life" continues or comes to an End.
God is always there--just reach out, call on Him, at any time, and He will Respond--even to you who thinks you dont need Him.
Peace
PS--------
Fprgot to tell you: There is True Wealth that cant be comapred to money: Happiness, Laughter, Beauty, Strength, Intelligence, and True Friends--and it cant be bought with silver & gold, only comes from God :)

The rewards you'll be getting in Heaven, assuming you even make it there, are basically an eternity of utter boredom.
I'm told that the first thing you see upon entering Heaven is a big sign that says "Boredom Is A Virtue." But it won't take you long to cease caring whether it is or not. You will be bored out of your mind, singing hymns and shouting great praises forever.
On the other hand, what makes you think you will even get there?
Do you belong to the Baptist church? Have you knelt before the preacher's altar and done the special incantation? Have you then received the Special Pass for Judgment Day?
If not, don't even be thinking about going to Heaven. All who have not done the holy Baptist incantation, are going directly to Hell, immediately following the Judgment.
So your question is rather mute, Mr. Rockintrain.
Your eternal destiny is one of two outcomes: Eternal boredom or eternal damnation.
Well, yes, the lady with the condo is doing splendid; but her happiness is only temporary. She too is destined either for holy boredom or damnation. (Incidentally, everyone in Hell has worms, among other problems. I can quote it verbatim right out of the Bible)

You better believe it is, in Heaven there is nothing but peace, joy and eternal love, you seem like you're a materialistic person who is obsessed with the rewards and I think you need to stop thinking about this woman and her rewards and start thinking about what you can do to better yourself! If you really care about God and Jesus you would stop thinking about those rewards and you only seem like you wanna go to Heaven just for the rewards, that is a very selfish attitude you have there! Start living your life for God and Jesus and not for the friggin' rewards!

So... what you're saying is... Paris Hilton *is* heaven? huh... crap on that, I'm staying down here for eternity. Maybe, just maybe, heaven is not materially rewarding as much as it is existentially and blissfully rewarding; having that feeling of knowing what is right and wrong ad knowing that no matter what, your life was what you made it out to be and you couldn't have lived it better or worse. Maybe.

Since her house could burn down, she could lose her job, her car could be stolen or destroyed, her hearing could be damaged, etc, then no. All of those things she enjoys her on Earth won't last forever, eventually, the house and all she owns will be gone, as well as her life. But, if she follows Christ, she'll earn treasures in heaven, where they'll never be stolen or rot away, and she'll be able to enjoy them forever.

why in the world would anyone even think that comparing earth to heaven is relevant?
the bible says everything here on earth is temporarty... that those who follow Christ can expect their reward in heaven, and that it will be much more than we can possibly imagine.
this tells me that my earthly knowledge is nothing compared to what will be revealed to me when I get to heaven.
