The color red is "hot rod" -- seemingly more status, more ego, more money.
I don't know if the insurance industry still does this but there was a time when auto insurance was more expensive for a red car.

red is a more popular color. a lot of times they will have less popular colors on the lot that you pay less for and then the more popular colors you have to special order.
