the reason why there are so many muslims is because if one person converts to another religion, the whole family will disown them. Thus they have no free will to choose and to find out what is the real religion. women are treated like second class citizens and they have no choice. they don't dare to speak out or simply can't be bothered as they know they will lose the battle.

Muslims and non-muslims alike that believe that Islam is peaceful dont know about Islam at all. It is common for Muslims to read the Quran for hours on end without understanding a word of it because its written in Arabic. Islam is a vile, intolerant, inhumane, and extremely violent religion.

I honestly feel or rather i know that islam is the religion of peace........and i'm perfectly comfortable & friendly with people of every religion as long as they dont offend me....(the people and not the religion)..And even if they do (or have) I try my best to act like nothing happened...
But what i'm sad about is no matter how much we try to tell you guys, that what some idiots do around the world is not because of our religion but because they are nut cases, there are still people like those '? ?' and 'sree' who never try to understand what we are trying to make you understand.......

Well the mass media has made this image in your mind, whenever you think of terrorism you instantly think Islam and vise versa.
firstly If people actually read the Quran and Hadith then they too would realise that the media is wrong.
The Quran came 14 centuries ago it was relevant in the 14 centuries its been here, and it still will be till judgment day. 70% of the Quran is proven by science.
They say Islam is spread by the sword, well there is 14 million Christians in Arabia if Islam is spread by the sword why arnt those 14 million Christians Muslims?
If Islam is unequal towards women then why is 2/3 (about 76%) of converts women?
There is approx 1.6 billion Muslims in the world if all Muslims are terrorists then why isnt 1.6 billion Muslims bombing the world right now?
Even the proper documentaries of the 9/11 shows that there isnt no such thing as 'Islamic extremist', About 2 months after the 9/11 20, 000 Americans converted to Islam.

The difference between me and those who appose me is that my answer is the truth and theirs is a lie. Find me one chapter in the Quran or Hadith (that is authentic) that Muslims should be violent, terrorists, rapist etc. Then i will debate with my OWN imam in the Mosque that Islam is bad and doesnt mean peace. A big misconception is Jihad, and Jihad doesnt mean holy war but to strive or struggle. Therefore even a non-Muslim can do Jihad. In Islam a Mujahid (a person who does Jihad) is trying to strenthin theirself against evil doings.

I really do feel it is peaceful, just and logical. We want to maintain peace and avoid quarrel but if oppression arises or someone initiates an attack we must defend our beliefs by our tongue (what we say), heart (we we truly believe), by our actions (so as to not be hyppocrites), by our pens (what we write) and finally--physical defense (this is only as a last resort; but if it comes to this we must defend our land, religion and the oppressed and not be cowards to stick up for the truth. We can't kill women, children, the elderly, or monks). Sounds fair enough right? If you don't mock my religion and sanction immorality (such as killing any innocent people) I'll get along just fine :) Peace.

Many religions in general have a warlike element. If you are going to believe that your religion is the only real religion, it necessitates hatred for the other. Plenty of Christians want to kill Muslims, just read around the answers and various questions. It's not all that different.
It's not the religion itself, it's the misapplication of it.

Islam is a religion of myth and legend (like many other religions) that is used as propaganda to convert people. This happens with other religions like the Branch Davidians who elevate a preacher to godlike status.
For example, muslims claim the Quran is perfect, but they totally ignore that Muhammad did not write the Quran. It was written by a committee commissioned by the 3rd Caliph Uthman. This committee gathered information and recollections from various people who claimed to have heard Muhammad preach. It is an undisputed fact that the Uthman committee decided what would and would not go into the Uthman version of Muhammad's sermons. Any recollections, notes, or manuscripts that the committee did not like was not only excluded, but destroyed.
Even today's Uthman version is edited or clarified. For example, the pilgrimage requirement to Mecca is an added fact. That is why the word Mecca is enclosed in brackets. The original instructions was that every believer should take a religious journey. Uthman's committee added Mecca. This is believed to have been done since Uthman's family controlled Mecca (Some have said that Uthman is to Mecca as Walt Diseny is to Orlando, FL).
Muslims claim that there are those who have memorized the Quran, but when pressed, no names are forthcoming. I have met many an Inman, but none can recite the whole Quran.
Muslims also claim that God prevents the Quran from being changed by even one dot. When actually, it is men who kill those who write modified Qurans. (Note you can go to Islamicity.com and download the Quran in Arabic. You can also modify it, add to it, take away from it, and then print it out. No thunderbolts. But Muslims will claim that if it is modified, added to, or taken away then it is no longer the Quran!).
Another unproven claim is that Islam is proven 70% by science. Ok, give us examples!
Muhammad murdered, approved or caused the murder of many people. Some just for materialistic reasons. What other religion of peace has a leader that was so blood thirsty?
Look at the controvery about the cartoons of Muhammad. But daily there are cartoons about God. Do Muslims get upset about cartoons about God? No just about Muhammad! So who do they REALLY worship God or Muhammad?
As for Muhammad, first he allegedly said that he was merely an Apostle (follower of God) then as his influence and ego grew, he became a prophet (one who relays God's instructions) to finally the "last prophet" (which if true would limit God's ability to communicate with people and make the Mormons anti-god!).
Muhammad performed no miracles. Muhammad had a bad childhood (his father died just before he was born. His mother died while he was a child. His uncles stole Muhammad's birthright (inheritance) and he was given away to nonrelatives as an infant to be raised (not an unusual action then).
Muhammad had a bad adulthood. His only sons died (there is information that implies that he killed them himself in a paganistic religious act (Muhammad grew up as a pagan and Islam adopted many paganistic rituals) and since he did not get the power/influence promised he abandoned the other pagan gods of the area an concentrated on one pagan god that was named Allah).
Muhammad had several bad marriages and his business dealings were not of anything of note.
His revelations were while he was hiding in a cave. The voice did not identify itself as anything. It was a christian relative (by marriage) that suggested that it could be the angel Gabriel (the relative then died mysteriously shortly after this comment).
Muhammad was apparently a charismatic speaker like Hitler and united a disrupted society by using religion, nationalism, and force (also like Hitler and others).
So where is the peace?
