A turbocharger in almost all circumstances will make more useable power. Turbo's make tremendous torque, at relativelt low engine speeds. A s/c will never be able to do that. I've owned both turbocharged and supercharged 5.0 Mustangs. The s/c car made 660rwhp and 500rwtq. The turbo car made 530rwhp and 710rwtq. Guess which one was quicker? The turbo went 11mph faster in the 1/4 on smallish drag radials. The car was an animal in any gear, at any speed. Downside...that kind of torque was hell on drivetrain parts and fuel systems. The s/c car was easier on the street since the power was more linear, no big time torque hit like the turbo car. Which was better...both put big smiles on my face and took alot of lunch money from local street racers. Given the opportunity to build another one, it would be turbo powered all the way. P.S. as far as no turbo powered vehicles going as fast as a supercharged funny car. check out some bonneville speed records. most are owned by turbo powered vehicles. Turbo's are not the newest "importzracerz" craze. Automakers have been putting them on vehicles for decades...still do. Besides about 1% of those annoying ricerz you see all decal'd and bling'd out actually have a turbo on them. Come in to the new millenium and expand your horizons.

From a power perspective, a Turbo without question. Anyone saying supercharger has never owned or been in a turbocharged mustang that I can guarantee. I owned and built a 99 GT that had a Vortech V2 S-trim and then converted to a T-76 Turbo and it was night and day. The turbo setup ran a well documented 10s on pump gas still on the stock automatic & Longblock SOHC 4.6. It's well documented in 04/02 MM&FF. Turbo Mustangs are on top in every class in NMRA even with weight penalties. A V8 spins big turbos quite easily make enough torque to move mountains throughout the band. There are a few turbo setups available especially for the 5.0 liters. They are a bit more complex than superchargers, but you know where all of your time and money went when it's setup properly. You can't go wrong either way, but I hope you get a chance to ride in both before you make a decision.
The Top Fuel & Funny car arguments are assenine because supercharged and turbocharged cars do not compete together on the same playing field. Show me an instance where both compete together and superchargers dominate. It won't happen.

The only thing a turbo gives you over a supercharger is an annoying ricer sound. Turbos are like a baby-bottle NOS system with a big decal kit. As far as power, the top dog is a supercharger. But don't take my word for it, just ask John Force, the guy that drives the fastest funny-car mustang on the planet: 4.6 sec @ 333 mph in the 1/4.
I'm sure there will be arguments that if John installed a SuPRaZ twinZ-tuRbo ZyZtemZ, a Zhot of "NAWZ", 2-ZtoRy RiZer-wing, dat big aZZ decalZ kit, a playZtation 3'Z 'N Zome 20'Z; then, "mang, he'z be going zo damn fast yo, his azz would be travel'n back in da'time".
Wow. Maybe that fully explain why there are no turbo cars close to being that fast in existence today?? The turbo-ricers need to forget about getting "Back to the Future", but rather, get "Back to Reality".

Superchargers for Mustangs are more prevalent and easier to install, and much cheaper than turbos.
As a matter of fact, Novi was the first company to offer them for Mustangs.
I don't even know of a company that makes turbos for the 5.0 or the 4.6.

A supercharger!!! The Turbo produces boost to the engine and the Supercharger produces boost and also compresses the air to the engine, which makes alot of Horsepower.

it depends if you want to wait for power get a turbo if you what power right then and there get your self a supercharger. i have a v6 mustang and was going to put a supercharger on it but it has way to many miles

DEF a twin turbo kit from HKS. thing is, superchargers sound retarded and theyr way too american, which is why turbo is the only way. but then again u got a mustang, so sell it and but an SR20 240SX..

Turbocharges are available, especially for the older 5.0s, I have seen some twin turbos that were awesome :)

everybody has a supercharger. Go with a twin turbo and a shot of nitrous.

Depends on how much money you want to spend. Many aftermarket bolt-on Superchargers would give you a lot of power for relatively cheap.
