i think there are two ways of thinking about the one G-d. you can think of G-d as a universal force that transcends all nations, religions, languages, etc. There are different labels for G-d in different languages, but there is only one.
or,
god was one of many, however through skillful deal making he convinced various groups to follow him, instead of other gods. Once people turned away from these other gods, took away their prayers and worshiping these gods died. And thus, there is now only one, because he won by getting rid of the other competition. oh, there's a few stragglers here and there, but they're weakened. and wont' you want to be part of the winning team?
i of course, believe in the first theory.

If you are referring to the trinity of the Christian God, then there are three different realities of the same God. Just like Water in a glass is water. Ice is water frozen. Steam is water heated. All three different but they are still water.
