Jacob (Yakov) and Esau (Ishmael) were sons of Abraham, the first monotheist. According to Jewish teachings, Jacob's descendants were the Jews. According to Muslim teachings, Esau's descendents were the Muslims.
Jacob and Esau got into a big fight after an issue regarding which son had the "birthright." Jacob fled because he knew that the conflict could escalate to murder. This was the beginning of the conflict between Jews and Muslims.

For the best answer, read Genesis. But here's a quick rundown: Jacob and Esau are the twin sons of Isaac (who is the son of Abraham). Later in life, God renamed Jacob to Israel. Esau became the beginning of the Edomite tribe in Palestine.

Your question answers itself to some degree. This fraternal relationship is still relevant to this day. I strongly disagree with Esau being Palestine.
I would say Esau's descendents are the Bedouin/Arabs. Modern Palestinians are displaced nationals from Jordan and Egypt who may claim this ethnic heritage. Ostrich is a bird, not all birds are ostriches. Make sense?

Jacob and Esau are Isaac's children, and Abraham's grandchildren.
The ones who represent the Jews and the Arabs (not Palestinians; they are a 20th century invention) are Isaac and Ishmael, who were Abraham's sons.
