For cause, but not the ones some ex-JWs who want to put themselves on a pedestal, want you to believe, and know you will without question.

You could wait until next May when this program about Jehovah’s Witnesses is shown on PBS, or you can order a copy now. It was done by an independent film company.

Setting aside any Bible issues, they believe in obeying the law, even the inconvenient ones, such as speed limits when late for work.

They believe in paying taxes, even though there are many ways they could avoid them, as many religions do.

They believe in keeping their word, such as to the IRS that they will not promote politics in the church, and they actually mean it.

They teach their youth that waiting until marriage is preferable to using protection, and for the most part, the youths actually believe it. As a result, they have the lowest rates of out-of-wedlock births and STDs. Yes, there is the occasional ones who would rather have their fun now than wait, but there are far more who choose to wait.

They treat their youth with respect, not just "do what you're told!"

Youths are taught side by side with the adults, the Bible as a whole, and not just Bible stories. The very young may not understand what they are being taught, but by the time you reach the age of understanding, they have a good basic knowledge of the scriptures.

The congregations never get so large that the individual gets lost in the crowd. Since everyone is taught the same, it is easy to start a new congregation, with a set of elders.

Everyone knows everyone, whether in their congregation, or in their circuit. When Katrina happened, every Jehovah’s Witnesses living in New Orleans could be found in Texas, with every individual accounted for. How many other religions could say for certain they knew that none of those left behind belong to one of their churches?

They believe their Kingdom Halls should compliment a neighborhood, and not overwhelm it, so they are small and don’t include a lot of expensive decorative features. Each KH can hold up to four congregations.

The greatest difference between JWs and the rest of Christendom can be answered with just one question.

WHAT DAY DO YOU OBSERVE THE MEMORIAL ON?

Everyone else will falter around and perhaps come up with a day in May, but all JWs will say at sunset on Niacin 14, which falls on the first full moon after the vernal equinox, the Memorial of the Last Supper. This is the only day, aside from wedding anniversaries, that Christ said to continue keeping, yet Jehovah's Witnesses are the only Christian organization that does.

Whatever you may say about whether it is right or wrong to observe the man-made holidays created since the first congregations, the fact remains that Christendom does not observe the one day Christ said to keep. What does that say for the leaders of Christendom, that they ignore that one important day of the year, and don't even know what day it falls on?

The question of holidays gets asked a lot, yet the facts of why are clearly evident. Even the Churches of Christendom recognize that the holidays and observances are not in keeping with Bible teachings, yet they fear that doing anything about it will jeopardize their positions and power. Check any religious encyclopedia about the holidays and their history.

So the question is not why don't witnesses celebrate the holidays, but why does Christendom celebrate something not taught in the Bible? Further, why don't they know what day Christ said to observe and why don't you observe it on that day?

Whatever you may think of any of the other beliefs of JWs, you have to ask yourself is the need to observe these holidays more important than observing the day Christ said to keep?

ok so Lord and God are titles, like physician, mister, omit, you. in case you'll say that you're close own friends with someone would it not not be suitable to call them by way of their call? similar problem a minimum of for me. I nonetheless carry Jehovah in very severe esteem because he facilitates me with the privilege of utilising his call. Now there are different translations of God's own call yet that would not cause them to any a lot less correct. note some verses from the bible playstation 18:3 "on the only to be praised, Jehovah, I shall call, And from my enemies I will be saved'' (Acts 2:21) ''and all those who calls on the call of Jehovah will be saved.”’ when you consider that we care about our associates and individuals we meet that's necessary to enable others recognize God has a attractiveness.

Thank you for asking. We are Christians. We are the worldwide Christian society of people who actively bear witness regarding Jehovah God and his purposes affecting mankind. We base our beliefs solely on the Bible.

Jessie_Curly sure had a lot to cut and paste for you to read...I suspect that the link she gave you must have been from one of our "rivals" (an apostate - someone who wishes to turn the truth into a lie). Of course much of what she typed is pretty true, but many do not understand why the "restrictions". It's best to be informed and give the entire information instead of leaving most of the important information out. This leads to many misconceptions about us which obviously is what the apostates wish to do.

We are Christians who strive to follow Christ's teachings as closely as possible. To find out more you can browse our website at the link below.

By the way, when you read hateful comments about us, please read Jesus' words in Matthew 5:11. He foretold people would lyingly say all kinds of wicked things about his disciples.

Along that same line of thought, it is better to get information ABOUT Jehovah's Witnesses FROM Jehovah's Witnesses. There was a similar circumstance regarding first century Christianity, but wisely the ones with the questions actually asked answers from a Christian, Paul, rather than the enemies of Christianity, for the same reason just mentioned, as stated in Acts 28:22 --
"But we think it proper to hear from you what your thoughts are, for truly as regards this sect it is known to us that everywhere it is spoken against.”

ADDED: As stated, we are not Mormons, and our beliefs are not the same as theirs. I think people sometimes confuse us because we are neither considered by Christendom as being "Mainstream" or "Orthodox" religions, and also if someone visits your home unexpectedly to speak about spiritual matters, it is most likely one of Jehovah's Witnesses, but if not the next most likely case is that it is a Mormon.

Not knowing Mormon beliefs, I do not know if we share any other things like that, but that is probably why people often mix us up.

and no we are not Mormon or a cult. We have a free mind to believe how we want to believe all of us were created that way. It is hard not to accept the truth when it is right in front of your eyes.
When things are explained so plainfully and understandably it is hard not to accept this as the truth.
If you have questions about Jehovahs Witnesses I would suggest going to this website and checking it out. And when one comes to you door, talk to them and ask questions.

Mormons are a totally different religion who follow the Book of Mormon. I think we get put together alot because we both go preaching from door to door. But our beliefs are different.

Jehovah's Witnesses are an organization of over 6 million worldwide followers of Jehovah God.We believe that Jehovah is God's name ( Psalms 83:18) and that He is the only true God. We believe that instead of adhering to any human based tradition, the Bible is our standard. We believe that Jesus Christ is not part of a trinity, but Jehovah's first creation, and that in obedience to his Father, he came to earth and laid down his perfect life for mankinds sin. We believe that Jesus is ruling now in Heaven as King, and that eventually Jesus and the 144,000 who have been chosen from amongst mankind by God Himself for centuries to serve in the heavens with Jesus will rule over faithful mankind who are here on earth. We believe that God's Kingdom is a real government, and that it will produce a new, theocratic system where righteousness will dwell. We believe in keeping ourselves seperate from the world, in accordance with Jesus' words at John 17:16 and that is why we don't celebrate holidays along with everyone else and shun most of the worlds entertainment. We don't believe that hell is a place of fiery torment, we believe that the dead are concious of nothing at all ( Ecc 9:5,10 ) and that when you die, you are simply dead until a resurrection, or if you are not resurrected, you will stay dead, seperated from a relationship with Jehovah forever.
This is certainly not all, but rather a brief synopsis of the things we believe. You might consider contacting your local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses and ask them if you have any questions. They will be happy to send someone out, perhaps even a young person, if you are young yourself, and speak to you in your own home, using your Bible to answer your concerns! Good luck!

people who are not Jehovah Witnesses or turned there backs on Jehovah will say nasty things about us. we are not a cult or brainwashed. we worship Jehovah and his son Jesus Christ. we have problems just like you. we laugh and cry, we pay bills and live in our own homes. a cult worships a mere man and lives in one state, like jim jones or charles manson. we are in 235 lands and we can go any place in the world look for a kingdom hall and we will be treated like family because we are family. remember Noah was told by Jehovah that it would rain for forty days and night and to build an ark and people laughed at him and he was preaching and when Jehovah closed the door to the ark, they could not get in. if we where a cult would Noah do what Jehovah told him to do, or Moses. or Job or anyone in the bible if we where a cult. remember Jehovah showed Pharaoh who Jehovah God was. if you want to know more about Jehovah Witnesses please visit a kingdom hall, yes many don't have windows but the doors are always open. we are not hiding anything. my kingdom hall does have windows. also visit our website at www.watchtower.org and your questions will be answered or when a witness comes to your door ask them

Jehovah's Witnesses have the true religion. They are Christian (of course), but they are unique for their rejection of paganisms, use of God's personal name, and global preaching by every active adherent. No other religious organization can claim such purity of worship.

These facts about Jehovah's Witnesses are perhaps relevant to this question. The more one compares this Christian religion with others, the more remarkable it is shown to be.

1. Jehovah's Witnesses have no paid clergy. Yet they remain tightly organized with more than 6.5 million active Jehovah's Witness preachers (about 16 million associate themselves with the religion). Even fulltime preachers and workers at their branch offices are unpaid volunteers.

2. There is no elite class among Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the few 'anointed' among them enjoy no special privileges in their congregations on earth. An anointed person (one of those relative few with a heavenly hope) is not elevated above his fellow congregants in any way, and he may not even qualify for appointment as a simple 'deacon' or elder. There are no titles; EVERYONE is addressed as 'brother' or 'sister'.

3. No person benefits economically from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Even the 8 to 20 men who serve on their Governing Body receive simply room, board, medical care, and reimbursement for certain personal expenses according to the exact same provision as every other branch volunteer.

4. About a hundred men have served on Jehovah's Witnesses' Governing Body committee during the past 125 years or so. The vast majority of them have spent the vast majority of their adult lives volunteering for their organization's purposes, and the vast majority have died faithfully and near-pennilessly while still under their legal 'vow of poverty'.

5. Amazingly, Jehovah's Witnesses did not splinter as a sect from some other religion. Instead, a truly tiny but sincere group of bible students studied only the Scriptures to determine the will of God. Thus their religion remains absolutely independent of and not carrying the sins of Christendom's history, yet carries the authority of Christ's teachings.

6. Despite the distortions of anti-Witnesses, throughout their modern history Jehovah's Witnesses have refused to claim divine inspiration or infallibility for their teachings. They have pointed to the bible (and not any particular translation) as the only inspired infallible means of knowing God's thoughts. For over 125 years, their teachings have been presented as merely the results of sincere bible research by imperfect but godly humans.

We are Christian servants of the one true God Jehovah and are followers of his Son Christ Jesus. We are ministers of the good news of God's Kingdom. We are proclaimers of Jehovah's heavenly government in 235 lands. We look to that government as the only hope for all mankind. We believe that no human ruler will ever accomplish what God will do for us. We do not put our trust in wordly governments for they can never bring us salvation, world peace or security. They cannot rid the earth of diseases, terrorism, wars or death itself. We know only Jehovah and our reigning King Christ Jesus can put an end to all those things.

Isaiah 43:10--" You are my witnesses,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that you may know and have faith in me, and that you may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none."

I dated a Jehovah Witness for 6 months. I was a different Christian religion and he constantly put down my religion. I didn't understand that because we both believed in Christ and the bible. He told me that only a certain number of people would make it into God's kingdom and they would all be Jehovah's Witnesses. He said I should re-evaluate my religious values if I wanted to be one of those people. I had the same values as him! I was just a separate branch of Christianity. The worst part was when I went to visit his family. Jehovah's Witnesses are big on knowing bible verses. His family could tell you any bible verse from memorization. They could relate a bible verse to every aspect of life. But, they did not live up to those verses. They were heavy into alcohol, weed, gluttony, and completely disrespectful to each other. I'm not saying that all Jehovah's Witnesses are like that. But, it was very disturbing.
