Is aerodynamics faith based?

I would say both.

Faith: Man had never flown before, so they had the faith that it was possible. This faith was based upon reason.

Reason: Birds can fly; the plane was designed basically following the aerodynamics that the birds had designed into them by their designer/creator.

Both. The Wright brothers used reason in figuring out the aerodynamics developed by Stringfellow in 1841 and, having faith in themselves, succeeded.

Actually you should read some stuff by the philosopher of science Michael Polanyi. All scientific knowing is based on non-rational predicates. The whole process of scientific investigation is shot through with intuition.

And to turn your question around: was Monet's representation of light based on intuition or reason? Were Beethoven's late quartets based on intuition or reason? Can you rationally explain to me what they "say"? Can reason ever exhaust the depths of our experience? All rhetorical questions, of course.

If the plane was invented by reason, it is clear that it is an instrument of the Devil and must be shunned, as all good things only come form god.

its both. There was faith to believe the idea was possible. I have faith the plan will not crash. I reason in my mind why it won't crash.
These are limited terms in limited understanding of man and his mind. They cannot be compared to things of your intent in the true understanding and meaning.

When the Wright brothers went on that first flight, they had faith that their invention would work.

He it is Who enables you to journey through land and sea until when you are on board the ships and they sail with them with a fair breeze and they rejoice in it, there overtakes them (the ships) a violent wind and the waves come on them from every side and they think that they are encompassed, then they call upon Allah, in sincere submission to Him, saying, 'If thou deliver us from this, we will surely be of the thankful.'

God gave man the ability to think. Electricity has always been here. We didn't discover it until recent times. Every idea and thing has been here in one way or another. We just have to find it or have God reveal it to us.

Reason.

The plane was invented by Leonardo Divinci and implemented long after his death.
