When I started out reading the Bible I disagreed with large portions (age 14) but two decades later having become a husband, father and several positions of authority in business life I have learned that the book is never ever wrong - it is our lack of experience and lack of capacity to foresee that keeps us too proud to accept an opposing view. That cycle still goes on and I still hate some aspects I haven't fully worked out but I know from my short history that they too will be revealed to me in due time and I will get it. I didn't believe the verse that says there is such a thing as a friend who is closer than a brother but as life went on I discovered it was right. Lots of life lessons later I too just say...cos it's in the Bible...lol

Nope. And no smart Christian would ever say that, either. As important as the Bible is to Christians, Christian beliefs are based on a lot more than just that. Some Christians are too ignorant to explain it, but the fact is that our beliefs come from something much deeper than the Bible. Christian belief is based on the holy spirit of God inside of us, which guides us and teaches us. The Bible is a tool. God is greater than this. The Christians that whip out the Bible on non-Christians only do so when they are not good at arguing their beliefs. The best Christians respect other people and practice the good teachings in the Bible by setting a good example; treating their neighbors (all of them) as they would like to be treated. I suspect that your question is spurred on by meeting the wrong Christians. ;-)

Will the bible tell me how to reset Instant Messenger so it no longer shows my original nickname to every new person added to my buddy list?

Will praying over it miraculously fix it?

Will the bible tell me how to stop fungus from killing my red-tip photinias? Or should I just accept it as God's will?

Only if your mind and life's problems are equally simple...

Of course it can't. That ancient book of superstition was written in a different world, where thunder was god being angry, sickness was possession by a demon, and life itself was simpler. Its writers didn't have the complicated lives we had, nor our science and knowledge to provide real answers to life's questions...so they made up their gods to try and make sense of what they didn't understand. We know better...um, well, at least some of us do :)

Really it just raises more questions

Speaking of questions, do you sleep?

Perhaps you wake up 5 minutes before me and return to bed 5 minutes after creating this illusion.
