I know people say you build muscle, but is it possible to gain 2 pounds of muscle in about a week? I do muscle building exercises, but mostly aerobic exercise, and it seems like I am gaining too much. I think the weight should be going down.

If you think you are gaining the wrong kind of weight, best thing is to start monitoring your body fat %. Get it measured (most gyms will have the calipers or hand grip impedence testers), and retest in about a month and compare. If your % has dropped, then your routine is working... the weight gain is coming from the lean muscle you are adding. If your % hasn't dropped, or actually increased, you should probably look at your diet or your cardio routine. You might be taking in too many calories, or not eating the right things; or you might need to see if you are hitting your target heart rate for the right amount of time with your cardio- maybe a change in time or intensity is the answer there.

Because you gaining muscle mass. muscle weighs more than fat. Try to do more cardio like the threadmil or aerobics Instead of lifting weight .Go easy on the muscle builiding excercise and the protein shakes if you are taking any. I do not know of your eating habits. Eat small portions when eating your meals and don't eat anything after 7 pm, maybe some crakers and milk if you are hungry. If you are diabetic, you have to be careful and eat six small meals a day to stabilize your sugar. No real sugar in your drinks, no carbs. More vegetables. Good Luck.

Well, unless your eating extra too its got to be just muscle. Yeah its possible if your doing enough. But really, the point is your working out,the aerobics burns fat,the toning builds muscle. Eating right helps prevent weight gain and boosts your metabolism. So,try not to worry, itll all come together. Your certainly not getting any fatter.

You are gaining muscle.. Muscle weighs more than fat! Ride it out because as you gain the muscle, your metabolism will increase and eventually, you will see the results.. Forget the scale, go by how your clothes fit! Also, appetite does increase with exersize so watch the food you put in.

You'll have to check to see what you are eating. You may have consumed more calories than you planned. Another possibility is that you weighed yourself while well-hydrated and the 'water' is accounting for your extra pounds.
The female metobolism also gets tricky because of how it fluxuates during the month.
Your weight gain subsequently may not be tied to exercise at all.
I myself have had the same problems and I've found one of those above to be the case each time.

Maybe you should follow a food diet too. But I don't think that this is the cause why you gain weight. I think it's just the fact that you are taller or something like that. It also depends of what age you are, because the metabolism changes with age.
Good luck.

I know the feeling. Keep track of your measurements as I am sure they are going down. Remember as long as you are looking and feeling better, you're doing good. Muscle does weigh more than fat, but if you weigh more and look better -- Who cares? People will be looking at you, not the number on the scale.

Has you diet increased with exercising? You have to control caloric intake along with doing exercises and if you still feel that you are gaining more weight, get your thyroid and hormonal tests done.
