In my opinion, it's a personal preference when it comes to bourbon. You may enjoy Woodford Reserve. It's family favorite, and one of my favorites to enjoy without a mixer. It can be found locally in most areas for a reasonable price, but not always in a bar or eatery.

Maker's Mark or Knob Creek are both good Bourbons.

JD, as mentioned, is NOT Bourbon, but "Tennessee Whiskey"
The *ONLY* difference is that it's charcoal mellowed. Other than that, it would be Bourbon. To be "Bourbon" at least 51 percent of the grain used in making the whiskey must be corn (most distillers use 65 to 75 percent corn). Bourbon must be aged for a minimum of two years in new, white oak barrels that have been charred. Nothing can be added at bottling to enhance flavor, add sweetness or alter color.

Maker's Mark is an excellent every day bourbon. But I would highly recommend Booker's (link below). In my experience, Booker's is hard to find in bars in the northeast US, but if you can, it's worth the price ($12-15/glass) You will be hard pressed to find a better bourbon. Oh, and stay away from the Tennessee Whiskey! :P

Cheers!

First of all Jack D. is not a bourbon, it is a sour mash whiskey, don't listen to those who tell you that its bourbon. It depends on taste, everyone has their opinions on whats best, Jim Beam is a quality bourbon, Jim Beam Black is a bit more smooth and Makers Mark is very good one as well(it's a small batch bourbon) that is very tasty.( made by J.B)
I personally have always prefered Jim Beam as one of the top producers. You just have to see what you prfer. Good Luck!

either Maker's Mark or Woodford Reserve........both excellent choices of Bourbon to drink straight........also don't listen to the people who suggested Jack Daniels that's just whiskey......Tennessee whiskey at that.......Bourbon is made in Kentucky (hence the name Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey)

I enjoy Wild Turkey Rare Breed on the rocks. It's smooth. Another one that is hard to come by is Wild Turkey Liqueur with honey. It's almost a cordial.

Knob Creek, Bookers, Basil Hayden's or Baker's.
All premiums from the house of Beam.

"best" is very subjective.
What you like, I might not.

I'm a fan of Old Charter (12 year old).
But it might not suit your palette.

What I would suggest is for you to go to one of the better bars in your town and try a sampling of what they consider to be the best.
See what YOU like and then buy it.

The link below lists some of the "best".
