Masonry used to be a completely different religion.
It however, was infiltrated by follower of judaism and completely changed from the inside, the original Masons had Luciferian Standards.
Look at www.joyofsatan.com to see what I mean.
BTW.
The founders of this country (washington, benjamin, etc) were all freemason, and came here to escape the persecution of catholic europe, so that they could practice thier occult faith in peace.
Just look at the dollar bill, the all seeing eye is a luciferian symbol.
Also, the medical symbol is that of the kundalini, (the snake over the rod, and the wings) which is luciferian.
The Puritans came a bit later and changed things up.
You may also want to see ExposingChristianity.org (or com, not completely sure)

Masonic Fraternal members do not worship Satan in any way shape or form. Masonry has as it's tenets " Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. " this is not a world - wide reaching Religion nor a cult as they believe in " The Fatherhood of GOD and the Brotherhood of man. " we go to our Church or synagogue to Worship GOD and go to our Lodge to learn moral truths in becoming better husbands, fathers and members of the community. the Masons are a society with secrets not a secret society promoting understanding, respect and aid for fellow members is a goal as the Masonic Fraternity " takes care of their own. " for true information suggest you contact a man whom you know to be a member and a member of a local Lodge. if you don't know one contact the Grand Lodge of the State you reside in and they can help you get the correct information.

I've been a Freemason for 6 years now. It's not an accumulation of all the religions into one. It especially has nothing to do with Satanism. It's based in general Monotheism. If you arent Monotheistic then you cannot join.
Why should you join? Because it's a Fraternity of Philanthropists. They do many great things for the less fortunate.

Freemasonry is primarily a service organization with no ties to modern Satanism. All it requires religiously (in the basic levels) is belief in 'a higher power' (this disqualifies Satanists, who are atheistic.) Certain types require specifically Christian beliefs (Knights Templar.) However, the religious aspects of modern Freemasonry are relatively mild and are ultimately derived from Enlightenment era Deistic belief tempered with neo-Classicism, as many of the symbols come from a revival of Pythagorean ideas, modified to fit a Christian and monotheistic perspective. (Eg, the idea of God as 'Supreme Architech [of the World]'

Ask George Washington. ;)
Your definition is not very accurate - assuming you're refering to Freemasons and not people who lay bricks. You should maybe do a little research.
But to answer your question, I think some men are intrigued by a secret society, and supposedly they do good works for the community.

It's a power base. The boss is a Mason, you're a Mason, the other guy ain't, guess who gets favored for the promotion.

Amen, freemasonry is a cult and I'm sick and tired of baptist churches in particular who are too timid to address this.
