Well from a christian perspective spirits are basically you. Your spirit is inside of you and when your body fails your spirit lives on. Ghosts can be considered spirits but usually people think of ghosts as creepy things that haunt you. I personally believe that no one can ever see a spirit or ghost but those people who claim they have really saw a demon that is trying to draw them away from God by looking like a dead relative or such.
After all demons are just fallen angels and therefore still have all the powers of angels.

Simply put, Spirits exist, Ghosts do not! Spirits are angels the good and the bad Ghosts are believed to be dead people but according to Ecclesiastes9:5 this cannot be the case because dead people are not conscious of anything at all

A ghost is the soul of a dead person, a disembodied spirit imagined, usually as a vague, shadowy or evanescent form, as wandering among or haunting living persons.
A spirit is the soul regarded as separating from the body at death.
Neither of these things can hurt you but the body can be directed by the spirit to hurt you as much as it chooses to.

I think a 'ghost' is a manifistation of an evil spirit, so the answer is both since one is a subset of the other.

ghost are not real, it is made up by men.
Death what is it?
Death is described as sleep, a deep sleep with no dreams no memory no nothing.
Ec 3:18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
Ec 3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
Ec 3:20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
Ec 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Ec 9:6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
Mt 9:23 And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,
Mt 9:24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
Mt 9:25 But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.
Mt 27:52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
Mt 27:53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
Joh 11:11 These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
Joh 11:12 Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
Joh 11:13 Howbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.
Joh 11:14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
Ac 7:59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.
Ac 7:60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
Ac 13:36 For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:
1co 15:6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
1co 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

THERE ARE ALSO MANY EXAMPLES OF JUST WHEN WE COME OUT OF OUR GRAVES. AT THE LAST TRUMP, WHEN JESUS RETURNS , AND WE WILL BE RAISED TO RIEGN WITH JESUS ON THE EARTH.
1co 15:51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
1co 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1th 4:13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
1th 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
1th 4:15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
1th 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
1th 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:

2pe 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
2pe 3:4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Re 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Re 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Re 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
I affirm not only belief in God the Father and in Jesus Christ as Creator, Designer, and Lifegiver, but in the Holy Bible as the inspired revelation of Almighty God (Psalm 12:6,7; 119:89; 2 Timothy 3:16). You must now choose whom you will believe and obey: the speculations, ideas, and theories of men or the inspired Word of God. My earnest prayer is that the Lord God of Israel, the Almighty Creator of the infinite universe, will grant you wisdom to make the correct decision and the faith to believe and obey His Word.
