Good point, mate. Fully agreed. Can't wait to see what kind of answers those believers will give.

It is possible to be a good person whilst not following a particular faith. It is a point of view that eventually all people will turn to God wherever they may find him. You seem to live your life according to a set of ethics that most religions would agree with and you make a very valid point about tolerance. Wherever you find peace and comfort and offer the same to your fellow men then that is the right place for you.
I respect greatly your beliefs and expessed code and wish you a long and satisfying life.
Personally I find a belief in God best for me but I need to work harder to be a better follower of my chosen faith.

I see from all the thumbs downs given to Mary B and to Marilyn M that there is not much tolerance shown to the Christian view.

You may say that you are more tolerant than most religious people but it is not a good thing to praise yourself and here , on this forum, you are able to hide in anonymity. We all naturally think overmuch too highly of ourselves.

That you pick up on Mary B and claim her view proves your point, if anything, is evidence of intolerance. Is she not to make her point because it disagrees with yours and she is 'religious' and you are not ? Her view does also draw upon more authority than you have been able to muster and is she not allowed to make it without being accused of intolerance ?

Truth is not tolerant of error, neither should it be or else it will no longer be truth. Whereas error does like to steal and dress up in truth's clothes.

Just because a person does not believe in God does not stop God blessing them and enabling them to live a good decent life in their own eyes, if not in His. Not to attribute that blessing to God and to claim it is their own goodness is self righteous and is also to rob God of His glory and goodness. Have you never heard the expression, 'There but for the grace of God go I ?'

Now, may I ask you, are you interested in this opinion ?

No, Mary B is absolutely right - which is maybe why she got all those thumbs down.

I'm sorry if it offends against your pride.

Whether you know it or not God's grace extends to everyone in this life to restrain them from the absolute evil they would otherwise sink to.

Some He lets them sink according to their choice, and His wise purposes, some He restrains. Some of those who fall come to their senses and seek Him. All He does is in absolute goodness. He is full of love and seeks your salvation but will not force you.

All of us naturally hate God. That is so obvious, perhaps the most obvious thing of this life, and yet because of our sinful and self centred state it is the most denied.

It is foolish pride that claims to be moral without God. If God were to withdraw His grace, which you deny, then you would see and know. Then you would know what hell is.

Why do you always think that you are better than others ?

Can you not see that what you have has been given to you ?

How does a helpless baby become such a proud monster ?

I'm sorry, because I'm going to upset you all but Mary B is right, you are hypocrites pretending to be something that at heart you are not.

You can live a good life without God, but where does your moral inclinations come from? You possibly made up your own mind or you may have been brought up that way. Either way, you must surely have got inspiration for your good conduct from outside sources: your parents, your peers, the media. The question is pushed further: where did they get their moral code from? It must be said that their moral code originated with their ancestors. But then again, where did the ancestors get their moral code from?

Atheists might well say that morals are part of our evolutionary and social developement. It's easy to see why they say that. A moral code helps the human race stay alive. However, there seems to be a contradiction indirectly linked to evolution: many atrocities have been committed in the belief that one part of the human race is more highly developed in an evolutionary sense, most notably with the Nazi system of government. Evolution can only explain a moral code in a hypothetical way, but we can clearly see an indirect link between evolution and violent hate.

The Bible tells us that we got our moral code from God. However, many have used God and the Bible to commit many attrocities. God will call these ones to account. Looking at what the Bible tells human to do (For instance Love you neighbour as you love yourself) we see that there is no excuse for violent conduct unless God commands it, which he does not for Christians.

Yes, you can live a good life without God, but if you do that, you cannot expect to benefit from all the blessings that He can bestow (Psalm 37:10, 11, Revelation 21:3,4, Luke 23:43)

I must agree with you, I don`t believe in god and i think that i`m a good person and more tolerant of others, I think that there are a lot of people like us.
the bible was written by a man and throughout the century's it has changed (a bit like doing Chinese whispers) People interpret the bible as they want to.
I know a lot of people say this, but ..... there is more violence and war because of religion.

People need to believe in something, I suppose that`s why religions were brought in, I have no problem with people believing in what they want as long as i`m not forced into believing in something that i don`t want to.

You can live a good and decent life without God but you won't have eternal life. God gave you free will to choose to worship Jesus. The Devil believes in God but he will spend eternity in Hell because he doesn't worship Jesus. We are all born sinners, we will never be perfect no matter what good we do in our life, the only way to eternal life is by accepting Jesus as the Son of God and our saviour. Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

I agree with you, my mother, whilst being a christian herself, informed me of various beliefs and religions that were held around the world, even the one with Turtles holding up a flat Earth. What she did impress on me was that it was far better to live a 'moral' life then follow any religion dogmatically.
I for one do not want to be part of a 'Heaven' that was full of bigoted fools and a vengeful god.

If you don`t believe in god ,then you will find yourself a BETTER person than the religious .
You will not judge others because they don`t believe as you do .You were taught right from wrong by your" Real" parents ,not your make believe father and holy spirit .You are more compassionate to people living now and are likely to do for them out of your heart and not for heavenly gain. You respect nature because in reality you know this is all we have .
I respect the fact that you can be this way ,without being guilted into it out of FEAR from god .

We want to love and respect each other, but we don't know why and how to do it.
You want to love and respect me like other people, but you find out that I am a criminal, so that your love may cease or turn into hatred.
My love and respect for you also may change at your saying that you are more tolerant than most religious people.
That is why we need the teachings of the One True God to maintain our love unconditionally. And no man on earth can bring to us this extremely complicated lesson with practical example like the Divine Messengers of God.

Religion is not a creed or a code but an insight into reality.Do not confuse it with an intellectual view. Each person is unique and his way to fulfilment is also unique.
