Well I have three pugs. One sheds more than the others because she has a thicker hair. The other two aren't bad at all. The good thing is when they shed they don't leave dander, so they are a hypoallergenic dog. Trust me they are wortha little shed here and there. Just make sure you get one that has the fine hair and not thicker. You can tell when they are puppies. I'll put some pics down below to show you the two that dont shed as mucha dn teh one that does, you'll be able to tell the difference!

Pugs have both a top coat and an undercoat, with the top coat having long straight hairs and the undercoat having softer fluffy straight hairs. Normal hair length on a Pug is about 3/4 of an inch, although they can be longer. Don't let anyone tell you that Pugs do not shed - they are more interested in getting you to take one than telling you the truth.

Yes Pugs shed a lot! I was in a pet store that had a grooming area. Someone was there with 2 pugs and in talking with them I found out that they shed a lot because they have an undercoat.

The shortness of the hair doesn't affect the shedding. Chihuahuas and Dalmations are among the worst shedders, even though they have short coats. Poodles and Yorkshire terriers don't shed--I don't know about pugs specifically. Try the Yahoo! Breed Guide, it might help. Good luck!

hahahah - I used to think the same thing. That is how I convinced my family to let me get a pug. But after 2 weeks of getting my cute little pug, everything in my entire house has been covered with dog hair. They are great dogs though - if you are getting one, just make sure to invest in a quality vacuume cleaner and quite a few lint brushes.

Ha-ha! The owners of this breed say they 'shed like buffaloes' is the commonly used phrase to describe it!
Poodles are the least shedding breed. Many of the Terriers & other breeds that need to have grooming/cuts are low-shedding, also (i.e. Bichon Frise, Maltese, Havanese, etc)

You'd be surprised how much they shed. Year round. Twice a year they shed more.
