Pugs are an indoor dog only. They can't tolerate high heat because otheir little pug nose. Also, they can't be out in the cold weather for more the 30 minutes. If you don't want a dog in the house don't get a Pug.

If you don't want an indoors dog, don't get a pug. They are totally house dogs. The cold becomes too much for them during winter because they don't have a thick coat and they are small. Then the heat doesnt let them breathe. They have small nose openings for breathing, and heat is def. not good for them. They need to be indoor dogs. Don't think they can never go out, they just need to be watched and not left out for long periods of time.

It isn't fair on any dog, be it a pug or any other breed, to be kept outside the house, and outside the family! dogs are sociable animals, and if they are looked after responsibly then they can be the best animals to keep as pets, however if you keep a dog outdoors then how do you expect the poor thing to get to know you?
Keeping pets is a commitment. you cannot just expect to keep a dog for it to be there when you want it to be!

My mother in-law is a pug breeder. All of her pugs stay outside in nice kennals, their doghouses have heat lights in them to keep them warm in the winter and part of the kennels have trees so in the summer they stay cool. She has been breeding them for at least 10 years that I know of. When the females are getting ready to have pups they are brought inside. If you can provide the proper shelter outside they will be fine. She currently has 8 pugs and never lost one due to weather conditions. We live in the mountain of the Appalachian.

Pugs cannot tolerate high heat and humidity for very long. Dogs cool off by panting and their long tongues and noses give them more cooling area.

For the same reason that humans cant. They cant tolerate the temerature changes that well. Heat could cause them to have a heat stroke, just like in humans and the cold can also cause them to get frostbite just like humans. If you didn't want a dog in the house, you shouldn't have gotten one in the first place.

why would you get a dog in the first place if you're just going to keep outside? dogs are social, and they need daily interaction with the people who own them. if you don't want a dog in the house, it sounds to me like you shouldn't get a dog.
