I don't suggest making cheese fondue ahead of time. It really doesn't take but 10 minutes once you have all of your ingredients measured, shredded, etc.

If you make it in advance and then try to reheat it, you will spend MORE time doing that than if you had made it fresh, right when you wanted it.

It's hard to reheat unless you use all kinds of artificial cheeses or (please don't) a "cheese fondue" pack from the store.

The best thing and the way that will make the best looking, best tasting fondue is to get out all of your ingredients and pre-measure the exact amounts you will need. You can make a prep-board with everything laid out nice. (mise en place)

That way when you get ready to make the fondue, everything is at hand and the whole process will go fast.

Good Luck. That sounds fun.

Reheating it is a bad idea.
Just get everything ready, your cheeses grated, your wine measured out, your papper & garlic on hand, then throw it together at the last minute.
If you're looking to save time get the rest of the meal ready ahead of time, get your table set, your fondue forks & plates out, your bread cubes sliced, your bottle of fondue fuel & matches at the ready.
Melting the cheese is really quick, not the part that needs to be done ahead!!

Do not make it ahead of time, it will separate.
