well i tried once with a hershey bhar but the glass broke and the chocolate burned before it melted so what chocolate can i buy thatll melt easily and what should i let it melt in? (note i live in tokyo so we prolly dont have all the chocolates in america

Hi this is easyer to do then you might think.I was surprised. You need 2 pans(stove top) or 2 bowls(microwave) one larger, fill apx. 1/4 way with water one a bit smaller, has to fit into larger one,but you should be abel to see into the larger pan/bowl to ensure you don't run out of water. place your choc. into the smaller bowl broken up.The easyest way t break choc. for me is to freeze , put into some kind of bag, then hit it with something hard to break it. Place the smaller pan/bowl into the larger one
STOVE TOP heat on med high, always sturing the choc. till it melts
MICROWAVE heat on high 3 min. stir, heat on high 2 min. stirkeep this up till it melts 3min. stir, 2 min. stir, 3.., 2..,3,2,
How long it takes depends on how much choc. your melting and how small you broke the pieces into.
This will work with any kind of choc.
**** if you are using the choc. to make candy like buckeyes or turttels or something like that, you should add 1/8 of shortining or some shaved pariphin wax (used mostly in canning) when you are melting the choc. add it to the bowl at the same time so the choc. holds together better out of the refrigerater and will look like the proffesonal candys (they do it) it wont change the tast as long as you do not over do it. and it will not hurt you.
****if you are using candy bars you will not need to add thr pariphin wax/shortining because it is already in there.******

Use semi sweet cooking chocolate. Melt it at a in a double boiler (a stainless-steel bowl over a pot of boiling water). The problem with using chocolate bars is the chocolate contains paraffin to give the chocolate a shiny finish, and the chocolate burns before the paraffin melts.

I think the safest way to melt chocolate is in the microwave. I know people who use a double-boiler however (pan within a pan - boiling water in bottom pan and chocolate in top one.
You should be able to melt any type of chocolate in the microwave - just do it in small steps - 15 seconds, then 15 more, then 15 more. Good luck

try getting two sauce pans, one smaller than the other, then fill the larger one with water, bring it to a boil and place the smaller one in the larger one. Place in your chocolate bar and it will melt from the heat. Be careful not to burn the chocolate. I would probably drain it out of the pan as soon as the whole bar is melted. One more tip, stir the chocolate as it melts so that it wont sit around long enough to burn.

Get a block of chocolate and then put it in a glass (microwave proof) bowl. Then get a pot and put some water in it, about half the pot, then make sure whe you put the bowl on top of the pot, that it is above the water(so it can melt). Put the bowl/pot on top of your cook top and stir it around. DO NOT LEAVE IT UNATTENDED KEEP STIRRING IT! then when it looks ready, take it off. You'll be one of the only ones in Nihongo eating choclate.

get a pot with water in it.... place your chocolate in a smaller object that will fit in the pot with water in it.... as the water heats up the chocolate will melt..... mixing it once it gets soft.
some put a dab of butter in it to make in smoother if they are going to put in on desserts or something. good luck

would use a double boiler - with water in the lower part - chocolate in the upper part - so the chocolate does not burn

Use a double boiler on low heat on the stove top. Your local kitchen shop will have one.

i live in yokosuka on the military base and they have microwaves in japan soo probably just put it a bowl then microwave it. or put it in a pot then on the stove. i dont know, im just guessing ways i would.

you can use german chocolate bars (like they use in german chocolate cakes). it's good for fondue, if that's what you're trying to make. also, morsels that are used for baking. you can heat them on low in a saucepan and stir.
