I live in Utah and I'm always hearing about protests against the Mormon religion. Now I'm not Mormon but it has always struck me as a little messed up that people (who call themselves Christian) can yell at other people even when they have small children with them, that they are evil and headed to hell. What do you think?

no one has the right to protest some ones beliefs. especially in America were the first amendment is freedom of religion. but sadly it happens anyways and there is really nothing you can do about it there will always be those select few that just have the need to do it. the only thing you can do is not protest other religions. just believe whatever it is you believe or don't believe(for the wonderful atheist on this site) and give everyone else the same freedom to believe what ever they believe even if they want to believe in a big flying spaghetti monster.

Let me answer with another question. How would you feel if a bunch of people lined up outside your church protesting? This is the kind of stuff that causes holy wars that never end because nobody can prove their actually right until their already dead. How would you feel if you'd spent your life protesting , got to heaven, then found out the chosen people were jews or mormons or even budists and you were being sent to hell. What if you were methodist or catholic and only protestants got in or vise versa? I thought one of the lessons of the bible was not to judge, but isn't that exactly what their doing by determining that mormons are wrong? Congradulations , they just sinned , maybe their going to hell now too!
Won't we be surprised when we reach the other side just to find Valhalla waiting and we're all screwed!

Oh my, I think that's terrible! Mormons are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, with good strong family values. I don't agree with their particular religion in all its details, but I respect anyone who is so nice! Certainly, this disrespect of their religion should not be done in front of their children. That's just awful.
If they want to have a friendly debate, where both Mormons and others agree to debate, then that's one thing. But a protest is not right. The only time I would support a protest is if the religion is some dangerous cult. Otherwise, they should not resort to that.

As an LDS person that happens to live in Utah, I just find this behavior very sad. Most of them, have only ever heard half-truths about our beliefs, and simply don't understand what they're really protesting.
Obviously in America, they have the right to do it, and I don't want to diminish their freedom of speech...but at the same time, I do think it's very rude, and morally wrong.
When I've seen them in the past, I just ignore them, they seem to be looking for a fight, and I don't feel like indulging that desire.

The behaviour you describe is certainly wrong in my book. Even if one believes that one must spread the word of ones own beliefs, that approach is not going to gain any converts.
That being said, I do think it is ok to protest the actions of a group, even if they were religiously motivated. But here again, protesting by picketting or writing letters or marching peacefully is different from screaming at someone like a lunatic in a parking lot.

Yes I do think that it is wrong to protest a persons religion. It is even worse when they have small children with them who will learn that this kind of behavior is ok and grow up to do the same. No one has the right to tell others what kind of religion they should be and force them to believe different than what they do. this country is such a big melting pot of different religion and much more and that is what makes it, in my opinion, a great country, because we can all believe in what we want and no one should tell us differently.

My wife aunt & uncle are mormons, & we are Christians, We never make fun of their ideals, But we do know where a stopping point is at, if a conversation ever comes up. In fact they don't even talk about their religion, because they know where we stand at on our Beliefs.

I think a better way is for discussion. Like here, people can ask questions, and hopefully get some intelligent answers, and maybe sources. All I try to do is present a convincing "case" for what I believe. The person needs to make their decision.

Actually it is not right to protest another religion but maybe you have the rights to protest them. But since u r in another majority so it is really difficult to talk about. depends

The ONLY reason to protest another religion is when that religion is harming others.
