I bought a 2003 Dodge Neon SXT 2.0 ltr. engine with a little over 63,000 miles on it (no warranty). And when it comes time to turn on the headlights I notice dimming of the dash lights and headlights when useing the power windows and back defroster. The car's engine belt also makes noise when activating the rear defrost. Any other tips and help would be great as well.

Serpitine drive belt is slipping or the alternator is going bad. I'd try the belt, then the alternator.

The SXT is a well packaged car meant primarily for the general public as a discount package. You have found a heavily equipped Neon unless it was part of some dealers rental pool which would make it a good buy-not 8400 good but a good car to bargain on. Offhand I'd say the price is about 1000 dollars high without a warranty but those things are really your call. Good Luck!

most likely the alternator. you can take to almost any major parts place to have it tested sometimes while its on the vehicle. if it is the alt you should still replace the belt with it
