Chicken

The Chicken!

And can be explained via evolution.

THe modern day chichen evolved from a creature that would have been chicken like, but not a chicken. as the DNA is altered by mutation of the gene, the creature would evolve into a chicken as we know it today. And would be born out of whatever vessle the original chicken type creature used to produce it's off spring. Be that via another egg or not. But even if the vessel was an egg, it wouldn't be a chicken egg, it would be whatever size/shape/colour egg that the predecessor usually laid.

Then the chicken would produce it's own offspring and would be born out of what we know as an EGG.

*And the question is a paradoxical one, which came first the chicken or ITS egg, not any old dinosaur egg or the egg the predecessor laid*

EDIT: THink about it from a human point of view. If A genetic defect happens to MY offspring that would determine another species, it would still be born out of MY womb. Whatever species was born may have a different reproductive system and a different womb. So the creature comes before the birth vessel.

the egg, and here's why.
in evolution, a bird resembling a chicken but genetically not exactly yet chicken as we know it today would have existed. as it evolved towards, for lack of a better word i'll say; chickenhood, its species became closer and closer to the modern chicken, untill one day one of em who was 99.999999something% chicken laid an egg that was the world's first 100% chicken. there was no 100% chicken before, but this egg had the first true chicken in it, so th egg comes first.
if u don't believe in evolution of course u can go around in a circle forever.

The egg did. The animal which eventually evolved into a true chicken had to hatch out of an egg.

The correct question should be what came first nucleic acids (RNA-DNA) or the membrane to contain them producing the first living cell. Birds evolved from the dinosaurs, thus the egg had to come before the chicken.

they are all wrong! a chicken laid an egg, and someone took the egg into their time machine, and put it in a pile of hay with instructions on how to raise the chickens, and then they all came from that egg!!

The rooster! ;-)

Actually it was the egg that came first, as there were eggs long before chickens were here.

Well, I'd think the Chicken would have to 'come' first in order to fertilize the egg...
