Oldest Surviving Religion is the key: Judaism is the oldest surviving monotheistic religion, arising in the eastern Mediterranean in the second millennium B.C.E. Abraham is traditionally considered to be the first Jew and to have made a covenant with God. Because Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all recognize Abraham as their first prophet, they are also called the Abrahamic religions.
Worshiping the sun, mother nature, the wind, etc. is not considered a religion and "Paganism" is used to mean the lack of (an accepted monotheistic) religion, and therefore, is not considered a "religion" in itself.

The question specifically asked oldest surviving religion.

Some people state monotheistic religions...which must be wrong.

The belief in a SINGLE GOD did not occur until LONG after cultures were believing in multiple gods. Sun, Rain, Thunder, Wind, etc.

It seems to me that all this believing in a higher power started to occur as evolution gave human being the ability to ask questions beyond their own existance, and when searching for these answers, they created religion themselves.

That is the only explanation why every nation has a religion, and most of them are different. Why all of them call the "god" by a different name and do their best at competitng with one another to be the only true religion and god in existance, much like world powers warring for recognition as the most powerful nation AKA control of their people.

Organized religion has always been about control. If You control their minds and their body will follow. Shamans, Voodoo, Priests, Rabii etc. All of them evoke control without proof, but with "faith" Trust me, cause someone bigger than me and you said so. No you cant talk to them, no they wont respond, and no you cannot question me. If you do, you will die cause i will have you killed.

No different from the boogie man in your closet that i will let out if you dont behave and eat your carrots.

Except the real boogie man in these religions threaten eternal damnation and burning souls and hell, curses and more evil than most are capable speaking about. AKA blackmail.

Paganism. Mainly those who follow the Pantheon of Sumer. Some scholars who study this field claim that Shamanism is the oldest form, but that's not really a religion. It's more of a philosophy and sometimes viewed as a Priesthood of sorts, but not limited to just one religion, but covers many.

There are divergent views. Most people accept Hinduism as the oldest surviving religion.

Most say it is Hinduism.
One may also argue that it is certain types of tribal religions, or paganism in general. Worship of a Mother Goddess is one of the oldest religions that exist. So a religion which worships the Mother Goddess has the most ancient roots, as far as we know. (Hinduism includes worship of Mother Goddess).

Hinduism is the oldest practiced religion in existence. they may predate Egyptians and they still survive.
some religion worshiping spirits may predate it but are not practiced outside of few people, and these change overtime so they're not really the same religion for long.
Judaism is the oldest monotheistic religion (i.e: one and only one god principle)

pagans although some will tell you its Judaism. but Judaism started with Abram or Abraham which ever you want to call it even the Bible states that Abraham left because he was tired of the pagan acts in his village. and since Abram was the father of Judaism that proves that pagans are the oldest surviving religion in the world. so Christians I'm sorry you cant disprove me on this one you guys are the ones that say the bible is the best historical document that we have so in this case i shall have to use it against you.

Paganism. As far as i am concerned it is the worship of "Shango" the god of thunder as practiced by the Yoruba in Nigeria - as well as other tribes found on the coastal region of West Africa. I am also aware that many Brazilians worship the same deity.
