The cable hooks on the trans with a clip, then routes through a rubber grommet in the center of the fire wall.Inside the car,you need to pull the shift knob by loosening the small allen screw or clip from the knob it self. Then pull the plastic console below the shift boot up.Now disconnect the two clips inside and pull the cable out.Install by reversal steps. from 20 year auto thechnician.

Hi there first of all there is a (or should be ) a metal clip on the end of the clutch cable on top of the gearbox which you need to remove, then you measure the length of the threads from the back of the clutch arm to the 10 mm nut on the clutch cable, next you pull the end of the cable to the front of the car and undoe the white (or balck) plastic adjuster to give you some slack, then remove the lower trim under the dashboard in the drivers footlwell ( there should be a number of black plasctic fasteners that hold it in place i think about 6 if i remember rightly) they look like 2 pence pieces with a groove in the middle, once yo have access to the clutch pedal you remove the return spring from the top of the pedal and release the cable (note the end of the return spring retains the cable end in the pedal). The cable can now be removed from the engine side of the firewall, taking care not to damage the grommitt, fitting is the reverse of removal
