The risk of infection, the way a piercing/tattoo looks, the way a body looks can undergo a lot of changes during puberty/development. What looks cool to/on a very young person, may not be cool when the body changes shape, for example with weight gain and loss. Young people often fail to think of the long-term affect their piercing or tattoo might have on them. I think piercings are more flexible than tattoos, because many of them, depending on where they are, can close up given time. The tattoo you really want when you're 13 or something, may not be a tattoo you want when you're 73, or even just 23. The laser removal process is getting less painful and less expensive as technology advances, so tattoos aren't necessarily forever. While piercings/tattoos and body decoration/clothing/appearance are matters of personal choice, I don't think it's unreasonable for their to be laws restricting underage/minors legal abilities to get tattoos and piercings since they are processes that inflict pain that some minors are unable to make wise decisions about.

i don't find any problem with piercings and tattoos. As long as the people who perform these perform aseptic (free from microorganisms) techniques then it would be ok. And they should know where to pierce. Ears are ok and even the nose, but the other body parts? I have no comment.
But an age limit should be placed like 18 because it is true that we have the rights to our bodies but we also have a right to protect our body and our parents have a right to protect us. As long as we are dependents, we are under the protection of our parents.
The youth is very energetic and very naive that is why they get into many problems like unwanted pregnancies, drug & alcohol addiction, and worst death. The youth take things so easily because they haven't found their true purpose yet. The youth are not mature enough to make such life changing decisions.

They might have raised the limit because at 16 you are still growing. If you get a tattoo and then grow some more it will strech and distort and look really weird. I don't think a back tattoo will mess with pregnancy, maybe your teacher didn't want you to get one because it's a "tramp stamp" and this is a scare tactic.

The body piercings and tattoos should be avoided by all people. We should not have any marks on our body which the Almighty has created with a divine purpose.
Read the verse from the Holy Bible
Lev 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I [am] the LORD.
It is good to have clothes over your body to protect it from various natural climatic conditions.
You can have any kind of print on your clothes but the dress should be modest and comfortable for the person wearing the dress.
May God bless you and reveal his will in you. In Jesus name. Amen.

Without a doubt! I would not want my daughter to go out at age 12 and get a tattoo or piercing that could endanger her in any way. Also young people are not tready to make decisions like that on there own.

no need for age limit..if your parents are responsible enough in taking good care of you..then they are the one who knows when you can have body piercings or tattoos

Yes,.. 16 for piercings,.. 18 for tatoos
Nearly everyone that gets them regrets them 10 years later,...
But thats besides the point of when your under 18 your a child,.. deal with it!!! Some day you'll be a parent and can make rules for your children to obide that they hate you for
as for the arguement "its my body" so then why not legalize suicide,. i mean,. it your body,. (such a lame a$$ unthoughtful arguement)
itsnot your body till your 18,. the LAW says so,.. you don't like it,. change the law!

I suppose this child also thinks there should not be a limit on cigarettes and alcohal either and that pot and other street drugs should be legal, because it is our body and what we put in it is our problem, right?

If you are under a certain age you HAVE to have parent sign the relese form. But yes, I do agree with you. All these kids that have tatoos now are going to look very bad when they get older and they have saggy skin. It will look terrible. I went to go get my ears pierced when I was 12 with my aunt, but I couldnt bc they said I needed my mom with me, I was so mad, but now I can understand!
Hope I helped! Have a very Merry Christmas!

yes...what a 15 yr old thinks is "cool" one week...they tend to hate the next...getting a piercing or tattoo is an adult decision and yes some adults make bad ones too, but it should remain at what age it is
