Can a child catch chicken pox from an adult who has shingles?
Also why has my child had chickenpox 4 times when they say you can only get it once?

Yes if an adult has shingles then a child and another adult can catch chickenpox or the other forms of it.

They say you cant get chickenpox twice, and you cant in so many terms. There are different types of chickenpox (too many to mention) and each one is slightly different to the other. The worse case of chickenpox is Shingles. If YOU had chickenpox as a child your more than likely to get Shingles as an adult.

To minimise your child catching anything, make sure you throughly wash your hands with an antibacterial soap after every contact with the infected person. Use seperate bed linin, towels, cups, plates etc etc. Wsah their laundry seperate to yours and your childs (if you do the same washing).

Try to avoid your child having physical contact with them and if this can not be avoided then only for a very short time and they must wash their hands afterwards. Shingles is very uncomfortable and painful and HIGHLY CONSTAGOUS

where i'm from, people here says that the shingles are the most infectious in catching chickenpox. that's why kids at school aren't allowed to go to school until their skin are completely clear.

seldom, some people get chickenpox more than once. some friends of mine had it also 2 - 3 times.

I was told it depends on how bad the outbreaks are. If the first outbreak was 2 or 3 "pox" then yes they can get them again, and so on. When my sister had them...she had a total of 7 "pox" and was told by her doctor that she has a chance of getting them again. On the other hand...I was covered from head to toe, and my doctor said the chances of my getting them again are very slim. I have been around several children with them, and had no problems
