We have been working all year for county approval to establish a homeless shelter and soup kitchen in our area.
!!~~We have approval at last and a property leased.~~!!
Now the real work begins...
It is not much in the grand scheme of things but it is the little acts of kindness that are the most worthwhile.

I'm working on starting a nonprofit to help girls that have no access to education. I live in the US and have spent a significant amount of time in Thailand. Thai girls have access to education that is similar to Thai boys. But the hilltribe girls usually have access to the local village grade school, and then they have very few choices. Boys can go live in a monastary and finish their high school level education, and continue on to college, although it is very difficult because of their poverty. But girls don't have that option at all. Their choices are to start a family, go work as a domestic worker in an urban area where they are very vulnerable to abuse, or become a prostitute so that they can make enough money to help their families. So my idea is to create a nonprofit here in the US. Then I will be able to solicit tax-free contributions to start a house in northern thailand where girls that are really interested in continuing their education can live safely. I taught English there for over a year and have some contacts that I will call on to see if I can arrange scholarships and get tutors to help the girls succeed. I believe that even one girl that leaves the village and obtains an education will be able to help the entire village. The girls will have to work extremely hard to overcome many things, but at least they will have a chance. I'm at the beginning stages of the process but am very determined to see this through.

What I am doing: my brother did a ton of volunteer work for kid's groups, etc. He died this summer, and his life inspired me, so...
I left my corporate job and started a Foundation in his name with the sole purpose of helping out kids of all kinds around the world. I also started a new business helping small non-profit groups raise money online.
I have always volunteered technical services and help to all sorts of non-profit groups, and now I get to do it full time. It's very rewarding.
What I am going to do: I have aspirations to do a lot more than I am already doing. One of those dreams includes impacting the current political system, maybe by creating a viable, grassroots 3rd political party in the US that operates with a little more common sense than the 2 already in power.

Then I will asked to the mankind for the attitude of tolerance and desire for peace!!!
I tried to gather know ledges about the history of human civilization - it all ways make me think about for a peaceful world.
Through Yahoo Answer, I will try to united the best power of the human race lying asleep (!) by which peace could be established!

I try to teach tolerance in place of the bigotry and racism I see here and other places, especially against Muslims. I adopted a daughter and am trying to educate her. I love my family and my friends. I help others whenever and wherever I can -- one place I've found recently is www.kiva.org. Check it out!
I pray. I recycle. I do what I can to wipe out ignorance -- my own and that of others.
