I mean, people are argueing that either god excists and created life, or that god did not creat life, that life here evolved by itself. well, isn't it just posible that god created the first forms of life, as bacteria or whatever, and influences the process of evolution? And if it is not possible, why not? isn't anyone open-minded enough to accept the POSSIBILITY that this is the case?
And don't give me any of that "it contradics the bible" bulls*** (excuse my language), because you cannot deny that we know more about the world now than we did back when the bible was written.

And honorablepassion, you honestly believe that that proves that we do not know more not than we did 2000 years ago? Really, you honestly believe that?
Okay, did they know EVERY different species of extinct animal?
Did they know how to send a man into space?
did they know the structure of DNA?
Did they know how to cure deseases which could kill back then, but are now easily cured?
So don't tell me that we do not know more about the world now, because thats complete Bollocks.

I'm a Christian, and I do believe that evolution is used by God, but not in context of creation. The different components of the universe came into existence by God speaking them into existence. Then, after all things were created by God's spoken word, evolution came into play.

Genesis explains it all. Man did not evolve from fish or apes or any other thing. God spoke all things into creation, and then put nature's laws in place.

"you cannot deny that we know more about the world now than we did back when it was written?"
hold the phone :P -- just a few things...

Isaiah 40:22, "It is he that sitteth upon the CIRCLE OF THE EARTH. 'science' didn't discover the earth is round until the early 1500s when Magellan sailed around the world

Job 26:7, ". . . and hangeth the earth upon NOTHING." Written over 3500 years ago

Psalm 8:8, ". . . whatsoever passeth through the PATHS OF THE SEAS. After reading Psalm 8:8, Matthew Maury, a U.S. Naval officer, set out to locate these curious "paths in the seas." He discovered the oceans have paths which flow through them. He became known as the "pathfinder of the seas". How did David (the writer of Psalms) know, over 2,000 years ago, there were "paths in the seas"? David probably never even saw an ocean! HOW DID HE KNOW?

Ecclesiastes 1:7, "All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again" This wasn't known until Galileo in 1630

Leviticus 15:13, "And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in RUNNING WATER

Job 38:19, "Where is THE WAY where light dwelleth?" How come Job didn't say where is THE PLACE where light dwelleth? Because light is always moving. How did Job know something in 1500 B.C. that science didn't find out until Einstein?

Ecclesiastes 1:6, "The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again ACCORDING TO HIS CIRCUITS." How did he know something that the aerologists and meteorologists are just now discovering?

Leviticus 17:11, "For the life of the flesh is in the blood." That's the most accurate, scientific statement ever written about the blood! . It wasn't until the early 1900's....
----------------
now.. there's the issue with all the species in the world living at once - that we dont have just a few, or a few thousand.. seems to be proof to me; there should be simply something that annihilates all else. having the millions and millions of species is a little nutz for evolution, especially seeing as how things usually DEevolve.
---------
and lets not forget the 100,000 people rule - math basically dictates that if the world had that many people, it'd spiral outta control quickly & we'd have millions and billions in no time.

At last someone with common sense, I have always said that if we look back in the days when the bible was written by man, how was man of that time suppose to understand what had happened, and even if he did how would the people of the world of that time understand, so it would be so much easier to call the first two living organisms, or the bacteria that formed life by a name I know lets say Adam & Eve, now man of that time could understand to some degree

What makes you think that we know more about the world then they did back then, God knows all things, & John the Revelator knew things in his time that we are just now finding out. You know it has always amazed me how people will ask a question on this site, Yet they don't want an answer from the bible, you all get on here & ask us something about religion & then you tell us how you want us to answer you, to me that is saying you want someone to tickle your ears,Do you know what that means, It means to tell you something you want to hear rather it be true or false, & to say something that will ease that guilt in your lives. So since you want an answer that you will like & not the truth, I will not give you an answer to your question, because you don't really want to know anything. Just something that will make you fel good for a day or 2 & then you will come back agin & ask the same thing over again.

The Bible says that it is God's word to us, God inspired men to write it. God knows all about how things came into being. And God said that in six days He made everything! Not millions and billions of years.

Now mirco evolution is a scientific fact, it shows how one breed of animal (or plant) can diversify and produce new breeds, but always of the same kind (a cat will have a cat, a rose will have a rose, etc...). This does not prove that the other types of evolution are true, they are still just theories.

Yes, it's very possible. Evolution seems to be a Natural Law. Now, most would say "God" is Supernatural, that doesn't mean he is, nor does it mean that such a Deity would not use Evolution. People seem to scoff at this, but they don't have a problem with Gravity being a Natural Law, or any of the other many Natural Laws that we know of.

The argument itself really isn't between Science and Religion. It's between people who use these things to try to prove themselves Absolutely Right. Obviously it's not working.

Yes, it's possible that God created (the theory of) evolution, or conversely, that God evolves. Einstein posed the question this way -- Did God have a choice in the way he (excuse my sexism) created the universe? It may depend upon how you define God. Einstein also said, "I believe in Spinoza's (a Jewish philosopher) definition of God -- 'the deterministic constraint of all that exists.'" In simple terms - the fact that you can bounce a basketball on Mars IS God. God is the physical principle itself. The Bible is merely the greatest book ever written. It's a good read. Just don't take it as "gospel." :-)

I believe that God created everything as it looks today. Why would he make something to evolve into something else? He created man in a form that he could walk and talk to. As for everything else, it is irrelevent. Are we ever going to see science and believers agree? Probably not, because faith is believing what you can't see or prove. Science is important as it relates to helping mankind discover many things. But not even science can prove beyond a shadow of doubt that God did not create it all.

You are right - it could be possible, and as you rightly point out, the bible was written by people, people who had spoken to other people who had spoken to other people who either made it up, exagerated, misunderstood, or actually experienced what was written.

The question of time is one that puzzles me. If God created life on Earth, say 2-5 billion years ago, then what was she doing 40-75 billion years ago?
