Being an alcoholic is all about how it affects your life. Do you have relationship problems because of it? Does it effect you school or work life? Has anyone ever suggested you might have a problem with alcoholic? Have you ever wonder if you have a problem with alcohol? This last question is obviously yes or you wouldn't have written. I suggest that you talk to someone, just in cause. A counselor or a doctor. Look in the phone book for a local clinical. Just do something! Alcoholism is a serious problem that can affect all areas of your life, your health, you relationships and your career. If you are smart enough to notice you may have a problem early on. Hopefully your are smart enough not to let drinking ruin your life. Talk to someone, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Think of it this way. "Alcoholism" is a physical dependency for alcohol, being a drunk means that you really like being drunk alot. One could consider, however, that, similar to marijuana, you can easily become mentally addicted to it. People are going to draw their own conclusions from your drinking habits, if your drinking concerns you (or the exception to others, people that really care about you) than cut back, you should be able to tell when there's a negative affect on your life.

I would define a drunk as a person who is under the influence of alcohol most of the time. A person who 'needs' to have alcohol everyday is an alcoholic.

Most definately the need for it. Alot of people drink, but can go for months without drinking again.Needing to drink daily or every weekend is a sign of a pattern of addiction. Like my need for chocolate.

I would have to say the need for it!! I drink and when I drink I usually drink a lot! But, I don't need it! When you start needing to drink is when you should get help.

The fifth & a half is what made you drunk. Your desire for it is what makes you alcoholic.
