Pick a city or town about 150 km away. Check on-line to find out what winter events are going on to see what you would enjoy. Pack a small overnight bag and find a hotel or bed & breakfast. When you get there act like a tourist. Don't call home. Go to the local information center and get directions to any of the local events. Visit any museums, local shops, take pictures, go to a spa ... basic tourist stuff. Enjoy the time. If you pick somewhere to fly to you'll lose most of the 3 days in travelling. Good luck.

Europe! It's Enchanting!
Try Portugal, the weather is fair and the destination is economic and modern and friendly and has very typical x-mas traditions! Maybe Lisbon or The Algarve, but Porto is also a treat! have fun!!
