You sound stressed! If you feel on edge and panicky, this has a physical effect on your body.

Stay away from any drinks containing caffeine or alcohol because this can make it worse. Try to relax by breathing deeply and slowly - and if you're very worried about this make an appointment with your GP who might be able to give you relaxation exercises to try when you're feeling at your worst. Try looking up some on the web too. Take care xx

Anxiety is very common in teenagers AND adults. Welcome to the club. I have suffered from anxiety and depression for years and I've taken medication to treat it. There's definitely nothing wrong with taking medication - but you should see a mental health professional (like a psychiatrist) who can prescribe something appropriate and monitor the correct dose for you. Your primary care doctor can prescribe something, too - but sometimes general physicians are too quick to prescribe something and they don't know enough specific information regarding mental health.

If you can find coping mechanisms to reduce your stress and anxiety without medication, that is great! There are some good suggestions already here. Make a list of things that YOU enjoy, that make you feel good and relaxed. From that list, plan to have pleasant events during your week and use the list to respond to anxiety that you feel.

Exercise is a big help. Go for a walk, get some fresh air. Martial arts and yoga is good because they train you to use your muscles and they also teach you how to breathe. It sounds funny because you already "know" how to breathe, but there are specific ways to breathe deeply and relax. The trick is to fill the bottom of your lungs. Watch your chest and stomach as you breathe, your stomach should be expanding as you breathe - that will indicate that you are using the bottom of your lungs.

I like to take baths - that is relaxing to me. Listen to music, sing along, dance around in your bedroom. That can make you feel better. Start keeping a journal, write down your thoughts and feelings. What is it that causes your anxiety? If you start writing and figure out what causes the stress, maybe you can avoid feeling stressed about it. Also, writing down your feelings helps you to "let go" of them.

One final word of caution: stress is normal and common. However, stress can have devastating effects on the body. Your stomach aches could lead to ulcers. Your sleep could be affected and that will only increase your anxiety. The physical effects of stress, just like the mental and emotional effects - are equally real and significant. Those are things you should definitely talk to your doctor about. Better to address those issues NOW when you are 15 and maybe you can avoid some of the problems that 40 year olds have because they didn't go to a doctor for years.

Good luck to you!

hey,
not only being a teenager but living in a society with no clear boundries between child and adult hood, and having parents that dont feel comfortable talking to their kids cause they are so wrapped up in their own fear on what might happen to their child eg drugs prostitution pregnancy etc, and they are insecure in their parenting abilities means teenagers feel very alone during their teenage years. in tribal culture, the young adult will be taken away from the main camp and lead thru changes symbolised by tattoos, piercings, ceremonies, and tasks. they are also supported 100% by every member of the trible. in todays uk society we are competing with all the members of our circles, at school, in our groups of friends, at home. our parents expect us to be what they think we should be not who we are. i think that puts the most pressure on, your parents wanting you to be somting your not.
try making things with your hands as a way to connect with your body and the world. its not for others to see or know about so they cant make fun, its not for show in a gallery so it doesnt have to be perfect, just draw or paint or learn oragami, i know this all sound really lame but making someting with your hands brings much satisfaction. if u do decide to draw, dont pick up a pencil, and notebook then stare at the blank page. look aroung you and draw anything you see, the bookshelf your window the chair, tv anything, and dont expect your drawing to look like a phoptograph of what u drew, just enjoy the actual experience of drawing.
you could also trying lying on your bed and just breathing, deep breaths in thru you nose out thru your mouth. again i know it sounds lame but relaxing needs effort, its not just sitting in front of the telly, relaxation will let some of the tension and anxity out of your body. up 2 u if u do any of this sh*t but i find it helps

It's a bit bad, but it's pretty normal. When you're a teenager you're most affected by peer pressure, by being halfway between a kid and an adult, by wanting to forge your own personality. Humans - like all animals - are stressed by change, and your teenage years are filled with constant change.

Just chill. Everyone feels like this, even if they don't show it.

It's neither bad nor good; it's normal for a 15-year-old to worry about everything conceivable and even inconceivable for that matter. Look on the bright side - if you can hear your blood pumping, then your hearing is excellent - that's one less thing for you to worry about. Happy Christmas to you, and I hope you have a thoroughly wonderful and stress-free one. :)
