Technically, nothing differentiates us. We are animals.

What seems to make us quite different from most other animals is a combination of (a) our ability to think at a higher level than "must eat" or "stay away from fire" and (b) our ability to make really complicated tools.

I would say "The Brain" is the main aspect which differentiate a Man from An Animal?

An Animal has legs, hands, eyes, even few sense like then can smell, they can sense the fear as they attack to other animals, They can feel happiness, they feel sadness. But they dont have Brain to think right and do right, like mankind.

Thank You.

Dr Radhakrishnan (our former President and philosopher) had written a commentary on Briguvalli (Thaithriya upanishad) which I read as a youth... The upanishadic verses tell the story of one Brigu learning from his father Varuna about the secret behind the created world... He progresses step by step to unravel the mystery by inquiring in the direction shown by his father... (there are lot of figurative expressions and we have to take the cue from scholars like Dr R..) While explaining the spiritual progression of the beings in the created world - as unravelled by Brigu - the author says at one stage "...animals have consiousness but no intelligence (vignaana).. the deer runs away from its predator (lion or tiger) knowing instinctively (not intelligently, please note) that it would kill, but runs towards its calf with affection... But the poor goat or broiler chick enjoys the master's hospitality without knowing that death awaits it in the master's hand..."

However man endowed with intelligence is said to be a "dual being... half animal and half god.." If he develops his finer qualities of love, sacrifice, etc he moves in the spiritual plane and becomes a super man... then reaches godhood itself...If on the other hand, he develops animal qualities more and more... he sinks in the spiritual scale and becomes an animal (in the next birth)... and so on...

So it is clear that human animal is the highest among the living beings which has the potential for rising further in the spiritual plane or sink into his ancestral (animal) world of eating, fighting, breeding and dying ... without any achievement to boast of...

The history of man has shown that great souls like Budha, Jesus and Mohammad can be born .... as much as tyrants who devastated their countries and remain the black marks of the human race...

Okay, what makes us different from a gorrila is quite simjple. Culture, the ablility to manipulate our enivorment, and the ablility to become bored.
Culture is one of the most important thing we as human have. Animals do not have any form a culture because all information is past down geneticly, and is inscribed in thier brain. We as humans past information from old to young via language, this inturn teaches the young how to act. How does this make us any different you may ask. Well the trick with culture is that it varies from area to area. In America it is our culture to tip, weather it be a cab driver, or a waitress. In Japan they don`t tip because the person is already getting paid to serve you.

To manipulate our enviorment is one of the key characterist that makes us humans. A leapord can`t go and make a trap out of the material given to it in the wild. It has to relie on the talents given to it via natural selection. Humans, the best example of this ability would be the creation of cities, or weapons. Humans used the materials given to them to try to give themselves the upper hand.

The ability to become bored plays alittle into manipulating one`s enivorment. A gorilla is prefectly comfortable sitting in one place and staring at a log. Humans become bored after a while and explore ways of entertaining themselve. This way the arts are created, such as drama, drawing, or even the martial arts. These were created because man observed his enivorment and found something that he could entertain himself with.

Those are just three reason why we humans are not animals and were given the name Homosapian or "The wise man"

the main thing is that man is also an animal that is social animal but there's kind of really very much difference between social animal and animal.you see animals eat the plants rawlythey have to do this because it's their food while we cook it and then eat.we can cook the food while really animals can't do that.and you see for ex. you take a person and animal standing next to each other with some distance now there's a person in front of them with a gun.the person with a gun shoots pointing towards a tree which is just next to him.and then the animal just runs as if the person is going to shoot it while the man with sense stands there as he knows that the person is not going to shoot him.so now you see the difference.

Biologically speaking, nothing, because people are classified as animals. What makes us unique are our species' distinguishing characteristics, of which you are no doubt aware. But what makes us superior... well, perhaps we aren't. I think we're really just animals with big brains and opposable thumbs and to think of ourselves as being cut from a different cloth is just arrogance.

i think its intelligence, manners, attitude.

thts no reason they walk on four leg and amn walk on two bcuz some animals can also walk on two legs like kangroo.

coz i dont think as their built as a solid differrence they can eat we can do
they can sleep we can too
they can walk we can too they can love we can too
they cant have mental ability to learn write think or solve etc.
but now a days man seems to be mannerless instead of animals.
i think man is going to be like WILD ANIMALS
ther is no differrence sometimes
